There is a single database file, calc.mdb, that gives "Disk or Network Error". If it is accessed by a user with MS Access 2003 installed, it runs just fine. However http://superuser.com/questions/787474/ms-access-2003-disk-or-network-error-not-a-network-issue-remote-app-win for our traveling users that access via the RemoteApp, then they get "Disk or Network Error". I have searched and just about everyone comes to a couple of conclusions: 1. It's a network error. 2. Recompile and/or compact it. It is certainly not #1 because I can verify that the network is fine. I have recompiled and compacted with no success (and besides you can open the database). From a client computer: A) Has no issue running another RemoteApp (such as Word, WordPad, or even another Access DB) B) Has no issue logging in via full remote desktop. C) Can run the database from Access 2003 locally installed D) Receives "Disk or Network Error" when opening via Remote-App. The event log shows nothing of any help that I could find. With all the various logs in Windows Server now, maybe somewhere else to look? It certainly seems related to the RemoteApp setup. Again, this is NOT A NETWORK ISSUE! This has been going on for months. I have verified it is not a network issue. And yes, as soon as I complete my current project, the next is to update these aging apps. EDIT: Additional Test based on comment: Copied offending DB to local computer. Renamed to add TEST1 to fi

Posted on 2011-04-25 MS Access MS Office network error Windows 7 3 Verified Solutions 5 Comments 875 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-11 We always receive this error message: "Disk or Network error" message when trying to use an Access 2003 database on Win 7 64 bit OS computer. Microsoft Office 2003 Service Pack 3 has been installed as well as all other Windows 7 and Office 2003 Microsoft updates. At this business we run Office 2003 with Service Pack 3 on several computers that disk or network have the Windows 7 64 bit operating system without any problems. I have done research on this and have found that Office 2003 will run on a Win 7 64 bit OS computer as long as Office 2003 Service Pack 3 is installed. The only problem that we have had so far has been with this one user on the Windows 7 64 bit OS computer who tries to open up the Microsoft database on a remote network share. All users who access this network share (including the computer that is having this problem) have full security and share rights to where this Access database file is stored. There are usually one or two other computers that might have this file open. These two other users are able to access and make modifications to this Access database file without any problems. The user who now has the Win 7 64 bit OS computer had no problems modifying this Access file back when he used to have a Windows XP SP3 computer--even while the other two users had this same Access file open. What do I need to do to fix this issue? It's quick & easy. Disk Or Network Error P: n/a NEWSGROUPS I work for a large organization were my team has developed 2 very substantial databases in Access 2000. These databases have been working fine for the last 6 years with minimal issues or problems. About 1 week ago today we have started experiencing the error "Microsoft Visual Basic Run Time Error 3043 Disk or Network Error" just about every day around the same time each day (activity starts to increase at this time in the databases). Sometimes the error happens with minimal problems and others that end in a corruption of one of the databases that can be repaired (thank god). After this episode all seems to work fine. Both databases have a front end that resides on the server that all users access (I know this is not a good practice) and a back end that also resides on the server. The server is Windows NT with all the clients running Windows 2000. We usually range about 20 or so concurrent users in the databases which has not been any issue in the past. The company has recently upgraded many of the client machines. When we contact our server network staff to look into this issue they check all the server event logs and find no reports of errors. They have even checked some of the users NIC card settings only to discover that they are set at 100 full and not at automatic which has been documented to cause problems. We run a compact and repair on all databases weekly and keep the databases clear of unused forms and other DB objects. This problem seems like it will never go away. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this can possible be and what we can do to resolve the problem? Any help would be much appreciated.
