Disk Or Network Error 3043
2000 Location: Centreville VA US Posts: 102 Thanks: 0 Thanked 0 Times in 0 Posts What does microsoft odbc microsoft access driver disk or network error "Disk or network error" mean? Hello again. Recently I have been getting the message 'Disk or network error' when trying to open up a database.
Runtime Error 3043 Disk Network Error
The database with the forms is located on my hard drive while the main database with tables are located on the network 'K' drive. After I got the message I checked to see if the drive was down and I didn't have https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/114771 problem opening and looking at stuff. What are the main reasons for this error? Could be occur if someone is using the database at the same time? Or is this just an issue with the directory that is holding the database. Also, from my experience, it's best to map out to the full path name of the drive instead of the "Drive Letter" shortcut. I'm sure others will have additional ideas. __________________ "I know what you're t'inkin', ma petite. Now I don't have a problem getting in and I didn't change anything. Although a number of people using the application was having problems getting in as well. Someone had locked it up but I am not sure who. I am not sure if the locking occured because of the 'Disk or network error' or because someone exit the application wrong or something else. Eventually I got the LDB taken care of by telling everyone to get out. My DBA skills really stink sometimes. hammerva View Public Profile Find More Posts by hammerva 04-02-2003, 08:01 AM #4 jfgambit Kinetic Card Dealer Join Date: Jul 2002 Location: Sunnyvale, CA Posts: 798 Thanks: 0 Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post This may help... Disk or Network https://bytes.com/topic/access/answers/772374-disk-network-error-terminal-server error on Terminal Server P: n/a gary0gilbert An unusual spin to this recurring disk or network error in a Terminal Server environment. Access 2000, Terminal Server 2000, file server is windows 2000. All http://stackoverflow.com/questions/18616967/vb6accessado-jet-randomly-getting-disk-or-network-error-or-cannot-find-the users have a separate copy of the front end db, everyone accesses the back-end db via a network share. To preface, non Terminal Server users (4 or 5 in office) never have this network error problem. There are two Terminal Servers running win 2000, both basically identical. This error affects users on both of them. Problem is intermittent, and does not target specific users or back-end dbs. Several times a week, various users will pull up a form in access, and a combo or subform will be blank. With error trapping, or if pulling up a form where the recordsource is actually disk or network based on the backend db affected, the user will receive the DISK OR NETWORK ERROR. Having the user close the database and re-open, even pulling a new copy of the database, in most cases does not alleviate the problem. Having users logout of Terminal Server and log back in somtimes works, sometimes not. Hard to nail down what the problem is really tied to. Here's the kicker: If the user receives the error, then opens Windows Explorer, navigates to the db file, right-clicks the .mdb file and selects PROPERTIES, there is usually a 1 second pause, the properties windows for the db opens, and the user's database access is now ok. They can immediately refresh or close/re-open the form, and the data shows correctly. This works EVERY time. I would really like to figure out what the problem could be, but i'm stuck. I have verified that all jetdb versions are the same across all systems (TS and workstations). When this problem occurrs, the user's connection (read/write etc) to other dbs in the same shared drive are not affected. I've been working on it for about 12, and I've never encountered this problem until just recently, and we can't figure it out. It is written in VB6 which uses ADO/JET to access an Access .mdb file on the network. The application opens the connection when it starts, keeps it open while it's open, and closes it when it exits. It does a LOT of stuff with the DB - the system deals with Patient Accounts, Charges, Payments, Scheduling Appointments, and about a million other things. We have dozens of clients that use this program, each with their own DB and most of them 'offsite', where they have their own server, some number of workstations, between 1 and 20 users, pounding away at the system 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and except for the occasional DB field bug or having to compact/repair DBs, it's pretty stable. About 3 weeks ago, we started seeing a problem that we hadn't seen before. We have an 'in-house' system setup for us to use: the DB is on our Server which houses maybe 10 other DBs, and only a couple of people connect in to this system. We started noticing that if someone logged into the system, went straight to our Scheduler screen, and then sat idle for about 5-10 minutes, they might get "Disk or Network Error", or "Cannot find the input table or query X on database Y". What's strange is that it SEEMS to happen only when 2 or more people are logged into that DB from different computers, and then one of them will get the error (Randomly
