error: Software caused connection abort Error: Could not connect to server I've uninstalled/reinstalled FZ...I've searched the machine for files/folders left behind and deleted them prior to re-installation. Still same thing. I've even installed WinSCP and still nothing, it gets the same error. Yet all other machines in the office can connect using the FTP clients w/out issue. Also, it's not just this one server, it is any FTP fzsftp started, protocol_version=5 server info that I put in to the client that I get this error. I've re-imaged the machine several times and every time I get the same thing. Not a firewall issue as the machines all get their firewall settings via SEPM and they can't edit those settings (Windows firewall is off by default since FW handled by SEP) as well as I've re-imaged w/out SEP and turned off the firewall and still nothing... So far, FileZilla admins don't know what's going on at this time... Thoughts? It connects fine but just gives me issues when left idle for a little while https://www.virtualmin.com/node/14876 which is why I thought it was some kind of server setting in the config files. Thanks Log in or register to post comments #4 Tue, 07/13/2010 - 10:16 ronald so you have no issues at all unless you leave it idle for x-period of time? You'll get kicked out of the server after some idle time which is expected and normal behaviour my filezille is set to passive mode btw www.copiatek.nl Log in or register to post comments #5 Wed, 07/14/2010 - 08:14 (Reply to #4) gl3ny Yes after a period of time if I say refresh a folder I get this: Command: ls Error: Network error: Software caused connection abort Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing My guess is that its about 10 minutes, is there a way I can increase x-period of time in one of the config files? Passive/active doesn't seem to matter with SFTP or nothing I have noticed at least. Please refer to FAQ. All reasons and hints for "Server unexpectedly closed network connection" apply to this error too. Advertisements: In a Middle of Session If you are getting the error in the middle of session, it means that Windows network code killed an established connection network error for some reason. For example, it might happen if you pull the network cable out of the back of an Ethernet-connected computer, a DHCP IP address renewal fails or changes the computer's IP address, or if Windows has any other similar reason to believe the entire network has become unreachable. Windows also generates this error if it has given up on the machine at the other end of the connection ever responding to it. network error software If the network between your client and server goes down and your client then tries to send some data, Windows will make several attempts to send the data and will then give up and kill the connection. In particular, this can occur even if you didn't do anything, if you are using SSH-2 and WinSCP attempts a key re-exchange. The problem can be caused also by the firewall. Try to disable it temporarily to see if the problem persists. Refer to FAQ. It can also occur if you are using keepalives in your connection. Other people have reported that keepalives fix this error for them.1) If you find DHCPNACK errors in the Event Viewer, your DHCP server may be briefly denying your IP address, causing your existing connections to fail. Where possible, this can be addressed by reserving a specific IP address on the DHCP server (e.g. cable modem/router), setting that as the static IP address, and disabling the DHCP client service. 1) The text is copy of PuTTY User Manual or was inspired by it. messages.txt · Last modified: 2009-12-08 by 24.22.208.184 Search Documentation This page Donate $9 $19 $49 $99 About donations Recommend Tweet Associations Hosted by SourceForge Webhosting RSS Feed with Project News Driven by DokuWiki phpBB Bookmark Manager Site design by Black Gate WinS

Solved filezilla network error: software caused connection abort when changing directories Posted on 2016-04-13 File Sharing Software Server Software 1 Verified Solution 7 Comments 330 Views Last Modified: 2016-05-18 Hi- Whenever I let Filezilla sit open for a while, it seems to disconnect, and when I try to go to another directory, it takes up to a minute. Very frustrating. This has been happening since I upgraded to 3.16.1. it looks like this: The files are on rackspace, and it did not happen on earlier versions. Anything I can find on Rackspace forum for other people having this issue, says that it is the server's fault. Any thoughts? Thanks. 0 Question by:mel200 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 82 Active today Best Solution byDave Baldwin I have that same 'problem' with all versions of Filezilla back to 3.8. It was taking 30 seconds or more to load, which seems like a lifetime when you're in a hurry. 0 Message Active 5 days ago Author Comment by:mel2002016-04-13 Nope, just as slow. I'm going to leave this open in the hope that someone has a solution or work-around.
