If you have comments like //Comment Then it gives this error. To fix this do /*Comment*/ Doesn't make sense but it worked for me. share|improve this answer edited Jul 9 '12 at 17:26 Otto Allmendinger 15.7k24768 answered Jul 9 '12 at 17:11 Asif Alamgir 9131927 3 Thanks. Also remove any trailing comma in javascript options array. –Arunu Jul 22 '13 at 7:53 add a comment| up vote 28 down vote All the error 80020101 means is that there was an error, of some sort, while evaluating JavaScript. If you load that JavaScript via Ajax, the evaluation process is particularly strict. Sometimes removing // will fix the issue, but the inverse is not true... the issue is not always caused by //. Look at the exact JavaScript being returned by your Ajax call and look for any issues in that script. If you're using XML, it is likely encoding (please read the article... many common encoding schemes aren't allowed). If you're using JSON, you've probably got invalid JSON (single quotes, unquoted keys, or rogue commas). Without s

Everything worked fine in Firefox, Opera, Safari and Google Chrome, but there was no way for it to work network error in Internet Explorer 7. Personally I don't like Internet Explorer due to amount of problems I get while developing. I tried to load the page into a DIV using JQuery. JQuery failed even thougt it's supposed to be cross-browser compatible. Then I xmlhttprequest: network error wrote my own Ajax code and that also didn't seem to work. As soon as the responseText needs to be called I get the following error in Internet Explorer 7 "Could not complete the operation due to error c00ce56e". It looked like an encoding problem for me.I solved the problem by adding the following lines at the top of my PHP file mb_internal_encoding("UTF-8"); header("Content-Type: text/html; charset="utf-8");//This piece of code I added where I create my Database connectionmysql_query("SET NAMES 'utf8'");After adding these lines it worked in perfectly Internet Explorer 7. somehow misinterprets the encoding you will get a strange javascript error called: c00ce56e.This will apply on all your ajax transfers for one. And bug you ever so much. For example i had a text/html;charset=utf8 header returned from a php-webservice i wrote. Nice i though, charencoding is the "plant-shit" (Crank quote) and code along and thought to myself, "Damn i'm a witty one". until i started the "IE" beast.. the beast throw out all my claims and the lookout for actually winning this went down. Until i found the above URL.. That is some crackhed shit right there. (Crank anyone?!).What it's stating more or less is that if IE 7 or 8 (or any program that uses whatever that is located in what dll) would more or less shit its pants when it run over an unspported encoding.. In this case UTF-8..Ok, i'm a swedish guy and uses windows iso latin craptastic charsets more or less everyday but when coding for internationally webpages that are targeting multiple countries you cant get to be staring blindly at your own chars åäö...Any way.. by altering my header to a text/html instead of a text/html;charset=utf8 response to my ajax script i solved alot of strange error shit. (but not my previous post with the fact that IE dont succed even if it would want to, thats a total other question but related but not directly if you get my drift.)..
