I can use it from my local library and many other libraries around me (and also from Starbucks, Panera, etc.) and it works. But I tried to use it today from my putty network error connection timed out windows 10 dad's house the same as before, and I get the error: Network error: Connection timed out. My friend can connect to the Linux box via SSH from his windows box, on his local network. Me and another friend (B) (outside friend A's local network) however are not able to connect to the server via the internet. The http://askubuntu.com/questions/796211/ssh-into-server-network-error-connection-timed-out router is set to use a DMZ for the Linux box so nothing is restricted by the router. We are trying to use PuTTY to SSH into the server. We both have accounts on the server with SSH acces, but we are not even getting a login prompt. networking server ssh share|improve this question asked Jul 8 at 4:08 Krahazik 112 Have you tried to use telnet your_server 22?
