or essbase studio servers.. user10774818 Jul 4, 2013 5:15 PM I installed EPM 11.1.2.2 on Windows 2008 Server Standard R2 64 bit in my Laptop.I chose to install Foundation Services, Essbase, Planning, Reporting and Analysis.I did not install HFM, FDM etc..Installation was successful. Database also resides in the same machine.I chose the option to deploy it to a singled managed server and chose IIS as the webserver.I'm able to connect to Workspace, Shared Services Console etc. But EAS Console, Essbase Studio etc. are notconnecting. I get an error message "Network Error".Note: I am using my machine name to connect. The same machine name that I use in Workspace URL.I tried with port 1423 and 1424 but still won't connect. I ran the diagnostic tool and I'm pasting below the entries which are red.---------------------FAILEDEAS: Essbase ServerValidating Essbase Server startup using MaxL commandError: EPMVLD-01010: Cannot connect to Essbase Server using MaxL. In the networking layer, make sure that the number of buffers predicted to be sent in this session is correct. Possible Solutions This is an internal error. Contact Hyperion Technical Support. 1040003 No length specified for data type Possible https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12032_01/doc/epm.921/html_errmsgs/ernetwrk.htm Problems The network cannot determine the length of the network buffer based on the type of the buffer. In the networking layer, specify the length of the buffer explicitly. Possible Solutions This is an internal error. Contact Hyperion Technical Support. 1040004 Invalid structure type. An application protocol error might exist between server and client processes. Possible Problems Analytic Services encountered data with an incorrect data type. Possible Solutions Make sure that the client computer and the server computer are running the same release of ODBC. Increase the values for NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT. 1040006 No message database specified Possible Problems Analytic Services did not have a message database defined. Possible Solutions This is an internal error. Contact Hyperion Technical Support. 1040007 Cannot find message database fileName, which is required for normal operations. Make sure that databaseName exists in the $ARBORPATH\bin directory Possible Problems Analytic Services cannot find the message database file, $ARBORPATH/bin/essbase.mdb. Possible Solutions Make sure that your PATH, ARBORPATH, and ARBORMSGPATH environment variables are set correctly. Make sure that the network is up and running correctly. to connect to [xxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxxx.xxxxx:142]. The client http://got2be-hyperion.blogspot.com/2013/08/error1042006-network-error-10061-unable.html timed out waiting to connect to Essbase Agent using TCP/IP. Check your network connections. Also make sure that server and port values are correct] This error was when he wanted to add a ‘location alias' in EAS. Also when he wanted to do network error a ‘Xref' it did not work and the business rules we not working correct. Solution After some long digging around I found the problem: EAS and Essbase can't function when the essbase name in EAS has more than 30 characters (incl port number). network error 10061 After I removed the essbase server from EAS and added a new one (shortened) the error did go away and my customer could work again with EAS.
