You'll probably have to get into some specifics of your dad's network setup (i.e. test for some of those problems) in order to get specific help. –JoshP Jul 18 '12 at 22:48 Coincidentally, my campus had a power outage (which outlasted the long length UPS on the target machine) at the same time as my apartment. So when the power outage forced me to SSH in from my dad's for the first time, it also knocked the target computer out. On the localhost, PuTTY can connect with no problem. Two PCs see each other well, except this SSH issue. Port 443 is listened by Copssh and called by both PuTTYs. I tried the same with port 80 and 22, same result. Could you please help me to solve this network problem ? Copssh and other pc are both on windows 7, its firewall is on. I tried by allowing Copssh Control Panel executable in all ports allowed, and with everything else allowed, but the result was the same. Maybe I should only open 443 port on windows' firewall but i'm afraid not to know how ? There are many types of rules now, I am not used to customize it. About putty logging, I put it on, with all session output, and browsing to c:\putty.log but no file putty.log was created after openning... surely i missed something but still don't see what? The version of Putty is release 0.60.
