Network Error Quicktime.msi
requires Quicktime." geocrasher April 21, 2011 Tech Tidbit, Windows 3 Comments I ran into this error on a computer recently, and found a sure fire way to fix it. If your iTunes installation says "a network error occurred" and then quotes c:\windows\installer\(file).msi then there is a very easy way to fix this. Download iTunesSetup.exe and place it on the desktop for ease of locating it.Download and install 7zip from http://www.7zip.com.Right click on iTunesSetup.exe and go to ‘7zip' and then click on "Extract o iTunesSetup\"Now you've got a folder with all the installation files. They are:AppleApplicationSupport.msiAppleMobileDeviceSupport.msiAppleSoftwareUpdate.msiBonjour.msiiTunes.msiQuickTime.msiSetupAdmin.exeNow, move all of those files into the c:\windows\installer\ window you opened at the beginning. Once moved, run the SetupAdmin.exe file. Install will proceed as normal.PS- this fix is completely original. I did not copy this content from anywhere. I banged my head against the wall for 2.5 hours before it dawned on me what I should do. Didn't want to run the SetupAdmin.exe for some reason, but just copying the extracted files to the installer folder did the trick. Thanks againReply geocrasher December 7, 2011 at 4:58 pm Great! September 19, 2013 15:26 None Hey, When I try to deploy Quicktime I get the following PDQ error: Failed 2 MSI Error 1603 Unknown error 1603 This is the windows error on for that computer: Product: QuickTime -- Error 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file: C:\Windows\PDQDeployRunner\1\exec\QuickTime.msiI have a feeling this is something related to the c:\windows/installer folder. Anyone know what is causing this problem and how to fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. If this an isolated issue then I would recommend having the Quicktime installation generate a log file. For instance you could append the parameter /log c:\qt.log to your Parameters field. This would cause QuickTime to send all the output to the qt.log file on the target computer's C: drive. Permalink 0 Chris Q September 19, 2013 18:26 HI Shane, I missed this https://support.adminarsenal.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/211671547-Cannot-install-Quicktime at first, the PDQ error is not the same as the Windows Event Viewer error. We are experiencing error 1603 via PDQ, and on the workstation it's 1316. The failure occurs on 37 workstations in an install base of approximately 200, most already have Quicktime installed. I've generated a log, but it ends similarly to the event viewer error 1316: Property(S): PrimaryVolumePath = C:Property(S): SOURCEDIR = C:\Windows\PDQDeployRunner\1\exec\Property(S): SourcedirProduct = {B67BAFBA-4C9F-48FA-9496-933E3B255044}MSI (s) (B0:6C) [13:58:21:916]: Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Permalink 0 TonsOFun September 20, 2013 23:44 what happens when you attempt to run the package/script from the target machine itself? (bypass pdq) and as you have mentioned, quicktime was already installed. and looking at the log you copied and pasted, it seems like "reconfigured" is an attempt to reinstall the product? depending on the package, would count as a "fail". if you take a sample of failed workstations that has the 1316 and find that they already have quicktime i
Deployment Package Development Apple QuickTime Player 7 Hello, folks! I have been following Nick's excellent guide (for v7.2) to configure custom default user http://www.itninja.com/question/quicktime-v7-6-5-preferences prefs for QuickTime: http://www.appdeploy.com/messageboards/fb.asp?m=28490 After reading through the entire thread and working through some trial and error, I get stuck with my install unable to find the added user https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/systemcenter/en-US/9b6dd573-57b7-44eb-be30-41007790e409/quicktime-7728056-install-error-1603?forum=configmgrswdist configuration files: Product: QuickTime -- Error 1334. The file 'QTPlayerSession.xml' cannot be installed because the file cannot be found in cabinet file 'QuickTime.cab'. This could indicate a network error, network error an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
I have followed the instructions regarding adding the binary stream with WiStream.vbs and added the corresponding Media table entry according to the aforementioned post. The VBS script does not provide any feedback as to whether it did its thing or not. I get no errors network error quicktime.msi so I assume no news is good news. ;) However, I also do not see any changes made to the msi after streaming the cab file into it (no additional entries in the Binary table.) I am unfamiliar with this part of the msi so I do not know what to look for. The msi file size is slightly bigger so it looks like the cab is added somewhere but the install still doesn't know how to get to it. I saved all of these changes to an MST file, which is applied at runtime. The only modification to the msi itself was streaming-in the config.cab file. I realize this is an old and evolved post but I am hoping some of the more experienced folks are willing to revisit this unruly package and give me a hand. I started a new thread so that changes meant for this version can be found separately. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance! -Adam 0 Comments [ + ] Show Comments C
