error saying "Network error: Software caused connection abort" and then the PuTTY SSH window is inactive. Usually I can login in the server with PuTTY and do something, but after a random time (about one or two minutes) I get that error. And sometimes I even can't login, getting an error saying timeout. I guess there's something wrong with my VMware Player, because I have another Ubuntu desktop hosted in VMware as a code repository server, and it more often than not has a timeout error when I do an SVN update/commit. However, I also guess Windows7 has some quirk because the same Ubuntu server hosted in VMware as a code repository works very well when on WindowsVista! It seems all the bad things happen after I moved from WindowsXP to WindowsVista and then Windows7! What could be the reason for this problem and how can it be fixed? Supplement: I did a Google search and applied all methods to help, including: Enable sshd TCPKeepAlive Set sshd ClientAliveInterval to 900 and ClientAliveCountMax to 3 Set the PuTTY connection setting 'seconds betwe

Now change 120 to 300 and save it. On the localhost, PuTTY can http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-server-73/problem-with-ssh-putty-error-connection-timed-out-4175411564/ connect with no problem. Two PCs see each other well, except this SSH issue. Port 443 is listened by Copssh and called by both PuTTYs. I tried the same with port 80 and 22, same result. Could you please help me to solve this network problem ? Thanks, crazyboot network error Top reply Mon, 07/02/2011 - 10:56 #2 itefix Offline Last seen: 1 hour 39 min ago Joined: 01.05.2008 - 21:33 Did you configure firewall on Did you configure firewall on Copssh machine to allow comunication on the listening port ? Copssh and other pc are both on windows 7, its firewall is on. I tried by allowing Copssh Control Panel executable in all ports allowed, and with everything else allowed, but the result was the same. Maybe I should only open 443 port on windows' firewall but i'm afraid not to know how ? There are many types of rules now, I am not used to customize it. About putty logging, I put it on, with all session output, and browsing to c:\putty.log but no file putty.log was created after openning... surely i missed something but still don't see what? The version of Putty is release 0.60.
