We do not attempt to list all error messages here: there are many which should never occur, and some which should be self-explanatory. If you get an error message which is not listed in this chapter and which you don't understand, report it to us as a bug (see appendix B) and we will add documentation for it. 10.1 ‘The server's host key is not cached in the registry' This error message occurs when PuTTY connects to a new SSH server. Every server identifies itself by means of a host key; once PuTTY knows the host key for a server, it will be able to detect if a malicious attacker redirects your connection to another machine. If you see this message, it means that PuTTY has not seen this host key before, and has no way of know

Another way - You can change the current runlevel From a command line, you can use the init command to go immediately into runlevel 1, which is also known as single user text mode. Open terminal and type the following command: sudo init 1 Again get back to GUI with init 2 command: sudo init 2 When you type init 1 command your session will then begin to shut down and bring you into single user text mode. When you type init 2 command your session will then begin to shut down and bring you into GUI mode :) Please help me , i need to solve this error before my boss sees this error networking server ssh shutdown putty share|improve this question edited Feb 19 '14 at 13:14 asked Feb 19 '14 at 11:04 Ashu 108116 closed as unclear what you're asking by Javier Rivera, guntbert, Braiam, Maythux, BuZZ-dEE Feb 21 '14 at 11:33 Please clarify your specific problem or add additional details to highlight exactly what you need. What seemed to be the problem was that my IP Address was being blocked, given that I had too many failed login attempts. After requesting the IP to be unblocked and waiting a little bit the problem was solved. If the godaddy representative that attended the call is reading this THANK YOU DUDE! I have a godaddy account (shared hosting), and it comes with the ability to use the linux terminal via SSH Access. network error software When I first obtained PuTTy, everything was working fine, however I tried to login 10 (more or less) different times with the wrong Username and Password, and now every time I click Open in PuTTy, I get the black terminal page but with this popup error message: Network error: Software caused connection abort Here is the actual image: http://i.imgur.com/E9cQB3M.png I don't even have the option to type anything in the black terminal anymore and no writing appears inside the terminal, as if it were frozen. I contacted Godaddy (great service btw) and we did the following tests: Downloaded putty on my other laptop, got same error when attempting connection Godaddy managed to log in themselves via SSH and managed without a problem I constantly used the "enable" option in godaddys CPanel under SSH Access, so that was not the problem The final test we did was I entered my cmd.exe and ran the following command: tracert 108.blah.blah.blah 108.blah.blah.blah represents the IP Address of my websites, and there is where we found a problem. I was obtaining a lot of values like 147 ms, and I also had 5 lines that appeared like: * * * here is an img of the tracert results http://i.imgur.com/MzYKoSI.png Godaddy mentioned that this seemed to be the issue and to contact my ISP, though what I can't figure out is why when I first ran PuTTy, I had absolutely no problem with it until I failed to access the account 10 times (more or less). I told t

I have receantly installed ubuntu server 14.04 LTS on a workstation. It has a fix IP address, which I can successfully ping from other computers in the network. But when I try to establish a ssh connection from a windows computer via putty I get some strange errors, which I cannot fix. The Problem is that putty takes a really long time trying to establish a connection. After about 10 seconds I get the following error: Network error: Software caused connection abort But when I click the Restart Session option a several times I can login in. But now comes the other problem. When the login appears on the putty console I type in the user, but it really takes a long time until I can type in the password to login. This is what I already tried to solve that problem: sshd: ALL in etc/hosts.allow commented line pam_motd.so in etc/pam.d/login and etc/pam.d/sshd configured the firewall with: sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport ssh -j ACCEPT already checked if ssh server is running and listening on port 22 UseDNS no in etc/ssh/sshd_config (EDIT) FYI: The network which the ser
