It was taking a long time (more than 15 minutes) and I didn't wait for it to finish. Adding --verbose shows Bundler::HTTPError: Network error while fetching. When I try sudo -u https://github.com/bundler/bundler/issues/2769 git -H bundle install --deployment --without development test mysql was --verbose It always shows an error Network error while fetching, and re-fetches all the packages again when I retry, then the error appears again because my network is not stable. How to tell the bundler not to fetch packages already fetched? ruby-on-rails rubygems bundler gitlab share|improve this question edited May 30 '14 at 9:31 Tamer Shlash 5,28522748 asked May 30 '14 at 9:05 Dawei Yang 13411 add a http://stackoverflow.com/questions/23950818/the-annoying-network-error-while-fetching-while-bundle-install comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 7 down vote accepted Try adding the bundle install --retry option: sudo -u git -H bundle install --retry 4 --deployment --without development test mysql was --verbose This will retry failed network requests 4 times. From the Bundler Documentation: --retry: Retry network and git requests that have failed. Note: if it complains about Unknown switches '--retry', then your bundler version is very old. update it with: gem update bundler and then try again. share|improve this answer edited May 30 '14 at 9:28 answered May 30 '14 at 9:22 Tamer Shlash 5,28522748 1 Bundler 1.6.4 was the culprit for me.
