I thought this was the end of my Pi set up woes. Alas not. I checked my "Attached Devices" network error software caused connection abort putty ubuntu page on my router and the Pi has been assigned the ip of "192.168.0.3". So I loaded up putty, entered that IP and got the error"Network error: Software caused connection abort"so putty fatal error connection timed out then I tried the same IP in WinSCP, using username: "pi" and pw: "raspberry" and I got the exact same error.Next I plugged the Pi DIRECTLY into my laptop via ethernet. I did the exact same as the above, but this time got the error (in both putty and winscp):"Network error: connection refused"This would suggest that SSH is not running. I tried

SSHing using Raspbian and Raspbmc, both of which have SSH enabled by default. My FDX light is solid green. My LINK light is green, flashing frequently but in no pattern. My 10M light is stable yellow.Any ideas on a fix? Thanks! Posts: 109Joined: Wed Aug 22, 2012 3:18 pm by drgeoff » Mon Sep 03, 2012 6:37 pm 1. Why is ethernet working now? What has changed?2. Can you ping the RPi from your PC?1) I ordered yet another power supply from eBay. According to my multimeter, it delivers same voltage as my last 2 power supplies (4.9V ish), except this new one decides to give me ethernet lights (seeming ethernet connectivity), but perhaps even this one didn't go the full way to enabling SSH. It's really stupid. Each new power supply I get seems to fix one thing, but not everything. I also feel like an idiot for leadin

I https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16380&p=165443 have some trouble connecting via SSH from both my MacBook (WIFI, using the terminal) and my PC (Ethernet, using Putty). Most of the time, when trying to connect, I have a "timed out" issue. Sometimes I manage to connect (randomly, without changing anything), but after a few seconds, I get the error "Network error: Software caused connection abort". When I try the SSH connection directly in the terminal of my raspberry, no problem... My Macbook, my PC and my Raspberry are all connected to a router. I http://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/29209/ssh-time-out-and-connection-abort use DHCP to set a static IP for the raspberry. I tried to change the port in sshd_config, same problem. But I guess that if the problem was the port, I should be able to connect sometimes? I spent the evening trying to find a solution on internet (mostly on this stackexchange), but none of the solutions which worked for people experiencing this issue solved mine. raspbian ssh putty share|improve this question asked Mar 31 '15 at 22:40 s0ubap 11 If you are connected to the pi with a monitor and keyboard, what does pinging your router look like? This might help you determine if the connection problem is between your pi and the router, or your router and your mac. –portforwardpodcast Mar 31 '15 at 22:46 I didn't even think about it. Indeed I can't ping my router from my raspberry. Which is weird as I downloaded Rasbian from internet... But I switched the raspberry ip to static since then, could it be à problem? (I use static ip for future remote SSH connections) –s0ubap Mar 31 '15 at 22:58 And what about the randomness of this issue? –s0ubap Mar 31 '15 at 23:10 What wireless card are you using? does google find any similar issues with that model? Does this happen with wired internet? –portforwardpodcast Apr 1 '15 at 0:06 Yes, as I mentioned, this also happens when using Putty on my PC connected via ethernet. –s0ubap Apr 1 '15 at 6:27 | show 2 more co
Solution: Start Putty Load your connection settings if you have them saved Click on "Connection" On the section that says "Sending of null packets to keep session active", Changed it to network error 5 seconds. 300 seconds may be better if network outages are your problem, read below for details.
