The account I am using has administrator privileges. I also tried running Ghost "as administrator." Also installed Ghost both "as administrator" and just by clicking. What I have tried: 1) I have run Fixinstall.bat from the Norton Ghost directory. 2) Used Security Configuration Tool to be sure permissions are on for all users. 3) Turned on full control for all users in the security tab of the properties dialog of the start menu shortcut. (although "special permissions" is only on for my primary user account). 4) followed the instruction in: http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100521112022EN&OpenDocument&seg=hho&src=_mi&product=NSR&version=15.0&language=english&module=7038&error=12818&build=Symantec&entsrc=CED_pubweb (Actually did that first). I ran that from FF and IE. I STILL can't run configuration. BTW, if the "reset registry permissions tool" from the above page really leaves a user hanging as to whether it actual does something. A new window appears with instruction about how to permit installation and that is the end of it. No buttons to push. No indication that some task was actually attempted or accomplished or that it should have been just by the popup appearing. That screen really should be made more clear. Ghost has served me very well in WinXP for years. I need it to work now. Scott Me Too0

Posts: 6 Back to top Cannot get past the "Welcome to Norton Ghost" screen in Ghost 12 Jul 2nd, 2007 at 2:47pm Hello to everyone, its been a long time since Ive visited this forum. In the past Ive come across much valuable information posted here, so Ill probe the minds of the experts here with a problem Im having norton ghost with Ghost 12, and Windows Vista 32 bit. Ive installed Ghost version 12 on a new Dell Dimension E521 desktop that is running Vista Premium Edition. When the program starts I see the Welcome to Norton Ghost screen but when I press on the next button I get the following Norton Ghost error message window: Error E1AD3212: You do not have sufficient privileges to perform this operation. See help for more information about security settings. I have all the norton ghost 15 permissions set to allow all the Group or user names checked in the Security Configuration Tool of Norton Ghost. I am running as an Administrator so I dont see why Im having this issue. I then installed Ghost 12 on another Dell Dimension E521 desktop to see if it was a Dell related problem, but it works fine on that computer, showing the screen where you can enter the registration code after you press the Next button on the Welcome to Norton Ghost screen. Ive tried many things to try fix this problem like running the program as an Administrator, and changing the Owner of the VProConsole.exe file by right clicking on it and selecting Properties, then the Security tab, and then pressing on the Advanced button and then the Owner tab. Next I pressed on the Edit button and changed the Current owner: which was SYSTEM to the other two choices listed there, I still receive the same error message. Ive been messing with this for a couple of days now, and Ive done many reinstalls and tried cleaning my registry using tools like jv16 PowerTools 2007 to get rid of left over registry entries after uninstalls. Any help with this problem would be greatly appreciated! IP Logged lwolff123 Gnarly Offline Posts: 32 Los Angeles Back to top Re: Cannot get past the "Welcome to Norton Ghost"
