Below is what i have done already with no success.. after trying the below i excluded the machine from the Default Domain Policies, rebooted the server and still the same error. Below are the details how i fixed it in case someone else is fighting it. THis issue has nothing to do with GPO's atleast in my case. - II had to edit the SYSTEM.INI file in the bootdisk to suitour company needs. - I added GHOST AD user Account in the Admin group on the server where Ghost shared folder was. Resetting Domain Admin password would have worked however this was not an option for us.It is definitely saving the Hash value somewhere for the Admin passwordI couldn’t find. - Modified the Boot disk with Ghost user name, Password and domain name. I know that with Server 2003 there were some security enhancements that prevented this from being done, so I am wondering if this is the same “enhancement” https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/7ba5723c-ae4b-4319-9c1f-53353c682663/windows-server-2008-ghost-folder-access-through-dos-error-5-access-has-been-denied?forum=winserverfiles causing this problem on a Win7 system. (It actualy makes sharing harder if you are'nt running Windows Vista/7 (linux especialy)) I'd double check to the permissions on the share then specify the user in the net command: net use x: \\server\share /user:ServerOrDomain)\User Make sure the user you are using is not using a blank password as you can't use blank passwords over network. Hope this helps 0 Serrano OP Sav_ May 18, 2010 at 6:48 UTC Crap Charlie beat me to it :) I need to type faster :) 0 Thai Pepper OP Owenmpk May 18, 2010 at 7:32 UTC Valley IT Support, Inc. is an IT service provider. Thanks for the quick reply gang but i may have misled you with step 3. The boot disk program I am running holds the user name and password so the password does not have to be in the login script in plain text. Also I should have said that this is a SBS 2003 domain and this program works when mapping to XP systems in domain . So it is related to the Windows 7 system. 0

Windows 7: DOS networking (net use gives "error 5: access denied") 21 Jan 2011 #1 CNBarnes Win7 Enterprise 64bit 4 posts Texas DOS networking norton ghost (net use gives "error 5: access denied") Let me say from the outset, this is probably not a Win7 question (at least, not per se). I am trying to get a piece of equipment in a machine shop (anilam 5300mk) that has a network card built in, to see a shared folder on the network. I have spent DAYS on the phone norton ghost error with their tech support person, who seems to understand their equipment quite well, but not necessarily "modern" systems or networks. This mill machine boots into a flavor of DOS, starts it's network drivers, then has a program (written for DOS) that runs the machine. The network drivers all seem to be working. First, I made sure that the server is in the C:\Net\Hosts and C:\Net\Lmhosts files. Pinging the server is successful. Now when I try the command: Net Use G: \\frodo\Fryer user:Fryer /yes I get a different error message - "Error 5: Access has been denied" Which is better, but still not success. Attached is the security log from the server (frodo). It shows that the Anilam (machine name is \\mill) *IS* trying to connect to the server, but is being rejected. To test things, I created an account on a WinXP computer w/ the username of Fryer. I SUCCESSFULLY mapped the network drive \\frodo\Fryer (using the same password I've been using on the Anilam, of course). Which means the userid/password on the server is fine. In this case, the server is a Win2008 server. What

We have a few old DOS machines that need to be able to access a share on a server on the domain. We are using MS Lan Manager 2.2a, and everything works fine on the 2000 domain. Is this possible? Is there any specific settings we need to change? The command we are using from the DOS pc is: net logon username password /DOMAIN:domainname /y The error that occurs: NET3779 Your logon attempt has failed due to an incorrect username or password. [I've checked the error NET3779, and it talks about invalid characters in the pc name, which doesn't seem at all connected] I've tried setting the LAN Manager auth level to "Send LM & NTLM - Use NTLMv2 session if negotiated" and I've disabled "Do not store LAN manager hash value on next password change" from advice I found online and it didn't make any difference. I've also tried setting "Digitally sign communications (always/if server agrees) to disabled and that didn't help. Is it even possible to connect DOS PCs to windows server 2003 domains? I used net use G: \\servername\sharename in the autoexec.bat and then typed in a valid username and password when prompted. Any other settings were in the protocol.ini or system.ini file. I'd have to go dig those up to see but I'm assuming the domain was specified in one of those. Is your net logon statement in the autoexec.bat? I definitely have the files on another drive and have a Server 2003 domain I could try it on to confirm but it might take me a few days to get the chance to test it. It's probably wo
