Solution Because this situation has a variety of causes, no one solution will work in every case. To resolve the problem, try each of the following solutions. Using the -FFX switch will force Ghost to use extended INT13 and should force Ghost to detect the drive properly. There might be bad sectors on the target drive. Run Scandisk, Checkdisk, or Norton Disk Doctor with a thorough surface test. This error could also be the result of BIOS level virus protection. Look in the BIOS for boot sector virus protection or boot sector write

I have repeated the process on those computers, using different cables, using a brand new switch, and again the error comes up on those computers. Some of them have the same sectors listed, but some have other sectors listed. The computers are norton ghost application new Intel Pentium 4 - 3.0 GHz/800FSB/1MB Cache, 512MB DDR400 PC3200 Non-ECC Memory, P4M80-M7 mATX motherboard w/ lan, ide hard drive Western Digital 80 GB 7200RPM Ultra ATA, ATI Radeon 9250 128MB AGP card,... Reply #1 - Nov 13th, 2010 at 12:24pm @ Willard Quote:Write sector failure, result=1, drive=0, sectors 31 to 32 Looks like Ghost is working okay--I'm not sure about that, but based on what's here so far it looks like Ghost is reporting a *critical* error on HDD #0, in sectors 31 and 32.I would suggest running the WinXP *Check Disk* utility to see if it finds anything: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XPYou can run *chkdsk* without any repair switches (i.e. /f or /r) and get a summary of what it finds. Then you can decide if you want to do the repairs--looks like you would probably need to do *chkdsk /r* to repair any bad sectors.Let us know what you find! _______________________________________
