Andy__D Level 1 (1 points) Q: Error reading settings on Server app I've just updated my Snow Leopard (non-server) install to Lion Server, and now when I try to go into the server app's "web" configuration section, I just get "error reading settings". I assume that this is because I'd manually edited my httpd.conf to allow PHP access (as well as PHP mySQL support) in my old Snow Leopard client install. Is there a way to get back to a defaul Lion web server configuration (other than a full re-install)? sudo mv httpd.conf.default httpd.conf
sudo apachectl gracefullet me know if that work Posted on Jul 20, 2011 1:56 PM See the answer in context Close Q: Error reading settings on Server app All replies Helpful answers first Previous Page 4 of 4 by °Bernz°, °Bernz° Feb 20, 2012 7:58 PM in response to Andy__D Level 1 (14 points) Servers Enterprise Feb 20, 2012 7:58 PM in response to Andy__D Like all of you, I'm a "me too" person. Me too, I believe Lion Server is awful. Anyways, to try to assist, I've noticed in my case that one of the culprits is postgreSQL.... There seems to be a bad (very bad) configuration around it. Did they put a newbe on this??So, after having terrible "Error reading settings" errors, I've run the following script:/System/Library/ServerSetup/CommonExtras/PostgreSQLExtras/CoreCollaborationPostg reSQLExtras.shThis solution comes straigt from thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3200022?start=0&tstart=0Good luck to everyone, this is really a doozy... I had this issue and vaguely remembered there was a reset command but couldn't remember it for the life of me. After seeing your reminder, I backed up my current /etc/apache2 directory, did an "apachectl stop" followed by "sudo serveradmin command web:command=restoreFactorySettings" and all was happy again. After I verified all was working, I then reapplied my customizations, resta

Hopefully you all had no issues following these to setup your server. However, especially os x if you have my luck, you most likely did. I have detailed below the issues I came across and how I resolved them. Please Note: As with everything, please, please, please make sure you have a full backup that has been booted up and tested to be working before going ahead with these steps. Profile Manager shows ‘error when reading settings’ in Server.app I’m sorry to say I found this os x server one to have only one fix. Reset Profile Manager and start again. Helpfully enough the instructions for this were discussed by Peter earlier last week. When running the Profile Manager configuration assistant an error 1 appears. In my experience this was due to an Open Directory Master already being created that Profile Manager didn’t like. The first time I had this error, my only fix was to export my Open Directory contents, destroy the LDAP (by demoting the server in Server Admin), then re-run the configuration tool. Once I started getting the error again, even after following the above steps. I found this to be due to some saved certificates and keys from a now decommissioned Open Directory. This was done by launching the Keychain Access application(/Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access.app), navigating to the system keychain and removing any and all certificates and keys that refer to Code Signing, CA, Certificate Authority and the server’s hostname. After this, I had to also recreate the SSL certificate I created. When enrolling a device I get an unknown error. The first step is to ensure you have installed the ‘Trust’ profile from the enrolment form before installation the enrolment profile. If you still have the same issue, then it may well be a

To keep the Service Data for Profile Manage, the Wiki, and indeed all server services, on another volume other than the startup volume, one simply needs to open Server.app, select the host, click Settings then click the Edit button the same line where it says "Service Data:" and shows which volume the Service Data is currently on. Please refer to this URL for more info:http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4974 -- It is important to note in that page that is says: "Important: Do not change the name of theservice data storage volume after you designate it in Server app." For one thing, this means that you should not edit this setting, AFTER you have already removed or renamed the volume. Apple requires that you change the Service Data volume BEFORE removing the volume. For one thing, this is so that the functionality in the server app can copy the Service Data from the original location to the new volume you designate. There us a fundamental flaw to Apple's design herein. If the volume (disk) has crapped out you have little choice, but to specify a new volume without "change[ing] the name of the [current] service data storage volume" - that is because your crapped o
