While working in Reporting Services I get an error: OCI-22053: overflow error You normally get this error http://www.itjungles.com/fixed-oci-22053-overflow-error.html because the returning dataset cotains a precision decimal values that is larger then the current dataset can support. Oracle number data type supports a larger precision then what the current dataset can hold. To get get around this issue just truncate the precision number down to a supportive level. You can do this by using the Round or TRUNC functions. * iOS Development * OS X * Product Review Amazon.com Widgets Scroll to Top Privacy Policy - Copyright 2009

Solved OCI-22053: overflow error creating SSRS report Posted on 2012-10-17 MS SQL Server .NET Programming 1 Verified Solution 3 Comments 1,936 Views Last Modified: 2012-10-23 Setup a report using SQL Server Business Intelligence Service Development Studio. I'm calling an Oracle view. My basic query/report worked correctly. I was trying to add two parameters (START_DATE and END_DATE set as datatype datetime) to allow users to select a data range for the report. I'm getting an overflow error message: AN error occured while reading data from the query result set. OCI-22053: overflow error Additonal information: OCI-22053: overflow error (Syste.Data.oracleClient) Query: SELECT * FROM DTADM.DOWNTIME_BY_DATE_NEW_VW DT WHERE ((DT.DT_YEAR>=2011) AND ((to_char(DT.DATE_ENTERED, 'mm/dd/yyyy') > :START_DATE) AND (to_char(DT.DATE_ENTERED, 'mm/dd/yyyy') < :END_DATE))) ORDER BY DOWNTIME_DATE DESC, AREA_NAME ASC, CATEGORY_NAME ASC While searching the internet I found references to using the trunc function to eliminate the overflow. It tried using: Trunc(to_char(DT.DATE_ENTERED, 'mm/dd/yyyy') and Trunc(to_char(DT.DATE_ENTERED, 'mm/dd/yyyy'), 'mm/dd/yyyy') but then I get an ORA-01722:invalid number error. (For the basic query/report I used - WHERE DT.DT_YEAR>=2011 and that worked. Errors occur after adding the additional data check with the parameters) Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you. 0 Question by:bkrbbnsEE Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution bybkrbbnsEE Problem solved. The overflow was actually coming from a field in the select ("Hours Dwn"). I changed it Round("Hours Dwn", 3). No more error. This converts the date to a string. So START_DATA needs to be a string to. I don't think comparing the strings '10/18/2012' and 12/31/2011' will return the right result (even apa
