First, quite doing this: num1 = Text1.Text instead do this: num1 = Val(Text1.Text) Anything I post is an example only and is not intended to be the only solution, the total solution nor the final solution to your request nor do I claim that it is. Actually Val() can be hazardous since it isn't locale-aware. I.e. if you are in a locale that uses "," for decimal points it'll truncate when you enter numbers like 3,5 in your Textbox. For this kind of application you'd normally want to use CDbl(), and there is seldom good reason not to when dealing with user input. Val() is a legacy holdover from DOS basics. It retains some value for doing internal, locale-blind operations though (settings files, XML
