Stepping through the code, lRows and lCols gets set to the correct values, and the redims set the correct ranges on the arrays, but it fails when I try to assign the range values to the array (on line: arrData = rng.value). My rows do often go up to around 90,000+, but I have everything as long, so I would think that wouldn't be a problem... Do you get the same result if you copy cell by cell? –Ann L. Nov 6 '13 at 20:10 1 Just had a mini-stroke, and suddenly it dawned on me to try .Value2 instead of .value. Fixed the problem right up. –Methonis Nov 6 '13 at 20:17 You don't need to ReDim arrData. In fact you should declare arrData As Variant, not as an array. –Jean-Francois Corbett Nov 7 '13 at 8:45 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 0 down vote accepted try Dim arrData as Variant arrDa

I've programmed in fortran for a while so I'm pretty confident of the logic but I'm new to VBA so I'm still having issues with the different commands and terminology. When I run this I get an "overflow error" when the underlined line is reached. I used to declare all my arrays as "strings" instead of double. When I had them as strings, the same line gave a "type mismatch" error. Here is the code. VB: Sub problem1() N = 2 K = 1 Dim ind As Integer 'ind = N ^ 2 + 1 Dim H As Double 'H = 1 / (N ^ 2) Dim U() As Double 'displacement (u) Dim UPrime() As Double 'u prime Dim UDprime() As Double 'u double prime Dim Amat() As Double 'A matrix Dim L() As Double 'load matrix 'thomas algorithm stuff Dim E() As Double Dim F() As Double Dim G() As Double
arrays, mostly longs and doubles, then run a DLL. After that, I redim one of my arrays (2D) to the right size and try to fill in some values. The array is a double and the values are less than one million. On the first element the code breaks and throws an overflow error. If I choose "Debug", I can then click continue and it finishes just fine as if there was no error. I can see in the debugger that the array is sized properly, has the correct type, etc. I have no idea what could be wrong here. Could it be a memory problem? Thanks in advance.
