It typically indicates a communication error between the formatter and the DC controller. The most common cause of this error is normally related to the fuser. Some steps to try:1. Turn off and turn on the printer to clear the error message. If the error returns after doing this, then, check external printer connections. a) Remove the formatter. b) Reseat any memory DIMMs and EIO cards. c) Reseat the formatter. 2. If the printer has a duplexer installed, remove it. Turn off and turn on the printer, and see if the error clears. If the error clears, then, the duplexer PCA may be defective. Replace the duplexer.NOTE: With a worn fuser, the 55.A error usually manifests itself while duplexing, however in extreme cases, the error could appear w
it is 55.a, have replaced formatter and dc controller but error is still intermittently returning, sometimes it happens on initialisation other times the printer will go to a ready state and then appear when printing. Any help appreciated Respond to this

0 Kingsley,The primary cause of an error 55.A on a HP8000 seems to be incompatibilities between 55.04.00 dc controller error duplexers & fusers. In many cases, neither the duplexer or the fuser is "bad" - they just won't work together. The solution is to replace 55.04 92 dc controller error one or the other. If you don't have an extra duplexer or fuser to try, just take out the duplexer to see if these intermittant errors stop.Wayne by unknown on Oct 21, 2003 at 1:17pm Add comment Please sign in http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=384367 to comment 0 Wayne, this is very interesting, I was reading elsewhere that a one technician got a 55a error from a fuser, so yesterday i removed the duplexer to get to the fuser, removed the fuser inspected it and put it back, forgetting to put the duplexer back, i fired up the printer and printed 300 pages without the error returning. The error with the duplexer out is now gone. Seeing that the printer will soon be due for a maint. http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/13460 kit and the duplexer is never used, the problem will resolve itself. Thanks for taking time to reply. by kingsley on Oct 21, 2003 at 1:30pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I have had this error twice and i found replacing the fuser on one and the duplexer on the other worked perfectly and the machines are still running to this day!Jon by unknown on Oct 21, 2003 at 2:24pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 In the laser 5si this was somewhat an issue but it wouldn't give the 55 error it would just jam everytime you had the duplex unit in the machine when fed through the duplexer. At the time I was an ASP and called HP about it. What I was told over time the lamps in the fuser start to wear down and it takes more power to heat those bad boys up. There for it draws power away from the duplexer causing it not to function correctly. Or I guess in the case of the 8000 series give engine errors. I really wouldnt reccomend the above thread you can do more damage than good. by nivek on Dec 5, 2008 at 1:56pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Boys, this is getting a bit out of hand.
