79.00fe Printer Error

When I print some PDFs on my HP 4050 or 79.00 fe printer error hp 8100 8000 printer, including some PDFs that I created using Adobe Distiller 5.0 using the default "Print" job option (Acrobat 4.0(PDF 1.3) Compatibility), I have the 79.00 FE PRINTER ERROR. My systems support person says that this Compatibility thing

is eqivalent to PostScript Level. And our HP 8000 and HP 4050 laser printers do not support PostScript 3; they support only PostScript 2. Because I create the PDFs using 4.0 Compatibility (same as PostScript Level 4?), I am not going to be able to print them on these printers. However, they can be printed on HP 4100, which supports PostScript 3 (even though not Compatbility/PostScript 4). Now my Distiller 5.0 (presumably any higher version too) does

not support anything lower than Compatibility 3.0 - it cannot create a PDF of Compatibility 2.1 for example. Now, is Adobe so stupid that it removes this PostScript 2 support from Distiller such that the PDFs it creates cannot be printed on certain printers? Any cure? Any comment? I read http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/reference/errorcodes/h... but it does not really help. This is supposed to be a "follow-up" to a couple of posts under this subject last March. And there is another post titled "Strange 79.00FE errors" complaining about printing PDFs like me but nobody responded. For the record, it appears that there is a bug with Adobe Reader 7.0 (for WinXP) from where I tried to print certain PDFs. I am able to print from Abode Reader 5.1 (on Win2K). or "79.00FE" mean on the printer display? This is a fairly common error on HP printers caused by malformed 79.00fe printer error hp 8150 PostScript documents. If a printer shows a "79 Service Error" (a common error to HP printers) on the LCD display, do the following: Locate the on/off switch on the bottom http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/11377-2-remove-00fe-error-message of the printer. Toggle the switch to the off position and COUNT to 10. Turn the printer on again and the system should be all set. If a print job of yours repeatedly causes this error, it may indicate a problem with the print job. Try breaking your document up into smaller chunks before printing it. printed through. I put in the new printer ID and sent a doc to the printer. The printer showed a Data Error of 79.00FE. http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/74525 The printer software on my Mac reported "unable to send trailing nul to printer: Broken pipe" I powered down the printer and tried again several times and got the same results. I have a PDF manual on CD and found the same suggestions given by moe in 2008. I removed and cleaned the fuser because it solved my error problems before but it didn't help this time. The manuel printer error didn't give a specific description for this error code. One thing I forgot to mention. Since the last time I printed, Apple had a HP software update that I installed. Do you think it conflicts with an eleven year old printer? If so, I don't know how to get back to the former version. I do have one Time Machine backup from before this update but don't know how to fe printer error go about changing only the HP software. Maybe apple can help me. Respond to this 0 First off I assume you have a network card. If so remove it with the power off and power on the printer and then go to the information menu and see if you can do internal prints. If you can there is the possibility the network card has an issue. It could be your software from the MAC. by dmzcompute on Oct 25, 2012 at 6:07pm Add comment Please sign in to comment Update:I tried to print from my Mac desktop instead of my Macbook Pro. I printed a HP read me on firmware. It printed all 16 pages and then the error happened. I was about to print a configuration page and then I heard the sound of a relay and the error displayed. So it doesn't seem to be a network communication problem but could still be. I will try your suggestion in the morning but I will go back to the manual to look again at the possible causes list. It might be a hardware problem. - Joe BigBand 0 Update 2:I didn't do a good job of documenting each test. I powered down and pulle
