I was able to import the reg file by doing the steps you suggested. Here's how HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\BITS\Parameters key looks now: Attachment 268175 After applying the registry fix, I tried to start BITS by going to Administrative Tools/Services/BITS/Properties and clicking on the Start button. Now I no longer see the "BITS Error 2" message I had before, but now I see this error: Windows could not start the BITS service on Local Computer Error 126: The specified module could not be found. Attachment 268178 I tried rebooting the computer and then going to the Administrative Tools again, but the same result occurs. Next, I started searching the forum for this new error. I found something called the "SFC/SCANNOW" tool recommended here SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker I ran the tool twice, but only got part of the way through (34%) each time before saying the "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation." Here's a screen shot of that: Attachment 268177 At this point, I am not sure what else to try. Anything you could recommend?
