I successfully did this with my first attempt, but my second attempt is giving me an error, the remote server returned an error (404) not found in web api and I'm struggling to work out why, any help would be appreciated. Firstly this is my Proxy.aspx.cs: protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { string proxyURL = HttpUtility.UrlDecode(Request.QueryString["u"]); if (proxyURL != string.Empty) { HttpWebRequest request = (HttpWebRequest) WebRequest.Create(proxyURL); request.Method = "POST"; request.ContentLength = 0; HttpWebResponse response = (HttpWebResponse) request.GetResponse(); if (response.StatusCode.ToString().ToLower() == "ok") { string contentType = response.ContentType; Stream content = response.GetResponseStream(); if (content != null) { StreamReader contentReader = new StreamReader(content); Response.ContentType = contentType; Response.Write(contentReader.ReadToEnd()); } } } } My HTML/Javascript is just this: script $(document).ready(function () { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "Proxy.aspx?u=<%=GetUrl()%>", success: function (data) { $('#iFrameHolder').html(data); } }); });

Dec 05, 2008 10:49 AM|boston_ma|LINK Hello everyone, I used the HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse Class to send the request to the host and in web response, I got an error "The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found.". When I click view details status from the error http://forums.asp.net/t/1357110.aspx?The+remote+server+returned+an+error+404+Not+Found+ message box and it shows that "System.Net.WebExceptionStatus.ProtocolError". At first, I thought it can't find the resource because the URL for HttpWebRequest is wrong but it's not. So, I captured the url and test it on the web browser and it did return the status in web response to "Status Completed" in the page. So I'm wondering what cause it to fail. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks and really appreciated! Here is part of the code that sends the request to the host and in return will be the web response in either the report complete or not while (bRptReady == false && loopCtrl1 <= ResponseLoopMax) { // execute the request
string url = "http://www.mysite.com/" + statusFileName; request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(url); // Get response from the web request response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); //Fail right here // we will read data via the response stream Stream resStream = response.GetResponseStream(); string strTemp = null; int count = 0; do { count = resStream.Read(buf, 0,My language of choice is C# in Windows, ASP.NET Web Forms, and MVC. October 25, 2010 -- Nick Olsen I developed an application a while back that automatically backs up a group of SQL servers every night and then uploads the backups to an offsite location using FTP. The application has worked flawlessly for months now so I was quite surprised to get a call this morning saying that the automatic backups failed last night. I checked the error logs and saw a 550 error - "The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access)." I then ran the program through a debugger again saw that this exception was thrown while attempting to close the FileStream. I tested for the usuals, spaces in the ftp uri, ensuring correct permissions for ftp user, changed the code around to see if it was a coding issue, and a bunch of other things and nothing seemed to fix the problem. I could login to the server with the same creden
