Each time I try I get this message (in full): Error 1316.A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C:\\WINDOWS\Installer\AcroRead.msi Then the installation fails. First of all, what does this mean and how can I resolve it? I have tried also to remove my existing version of Adober Reader and that failed also. I now have no Adobe Reader that I

Fortunately, the problem can be solved easily, and you'll be back to using your software in no time. Go to Microsoft's support site (see "Resources"). Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Follow the prompts to run the installation program as you normally would any software. Look at the list of components that you can remove completely from your system upon running the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. Find the one that corresponds to whatever software that gave you Error 1316 originally. Highlight the correct program and hit the remove button. You will be warned that this will make permanent changes to your system. Click the "OK" button, and the utility will clean the partial or corrupted install off of your system. Install the program again. Now that the leftover remnants of the previous installation have been dealt with, you should be able to complete the installation process with no issues. Tips & Warnings Run this utility from time to time and find programs that you recently uninstalled. If there are some still hanging out somewhere on your system, you can remove them as a form of preventative maintenance. Select only programs that you wish to delete. If you select an incorrect file, it will be uninstalled from your system completely.
