When I adobe reader x offline installer run the program (ASP.NET, C#) under Visual Studio, it runs perfect. The installer (using Installshield 12 Pro) that I am creating also includes Adobe Reader 8.0. I have also included the ActiveX component within my program. When I build the installer (basic MSI) it shows no errors, and it adds the AcrodPDF.dll when it detects the dependency: Adding file 'AcroPDF.dll' that is a dependency of component 'Interop.AcroPDFLib.dll' When I test the installer under Installshield, it runs without errors, adobe reader x crashes when printing but when I try and run it on my computer, I get this error: Error 1904. Module C:/Program Files/Common Files/Adobe/Acrobat/ActiveXdobe/Acrobat/ActiveX/AcroPDF.dll failed to register. HRESULT - 2147220473. Contact your support personnel. Furthermore, when I uninstall the program, I get the same error except it states that the dll failed to unregister, naturally. If anyone has any suggestions as to how I can correct this, please let me know. Thanks in advance. Last edited by khassoun; 01-29-2007 at 12:03 PM. I compile my MSI and I recieve no errors or warnings: 0 error(s), 0 warning(s) I still get the above error on my install when I run it. Could it be that I am linking the AcroPDF.dll incorrectly in Installshield? I do not add in the dll to the msi project. I only add in the Interop.AcroPDF.dll and AxInterop.AcroPDFLib.dll to the project. Installshield automatically adds in the AcroPDF.dll when it detects the dependency. Reply

Why this is happening These issues can be caused by an incorrect file setting or a damaged file. If multiple errors are displayed and they specifically mention theICWrapper.dll, qbprefs.dll, and qbupdate.exe (among others), then the problem is probably caused by a damaged component of Microsoft Visual C++.This error can also occur if you are installing QuickBooks Desktop after upgrading your operating system (such as from Windows Vista to Windows 7) and your computer was not rebooted after the upgrade. How to fix it Unless you have one of the special cases shown below, you will need to run the QBInstall tool: Click theIgnorebutton on the error message and allow the installation to complete.Do notopen QuickBooks Desktop. When my MSI is pushed through my customers GPO per user, the user (admin rights) gets http://www.itninja.com/question/message-error-1904-dll-fails-to-register-but-it-has-registered then message "Error 1904 Module xxx.dll failed to register" for each dll in the package. http://scn.sap.com/thread/1879138 If we ignore the messages we can see that everything works, the dll:s are in fact registered! It we run regsvr32 to manually register the file, it works. If we run the MSI manually, no problems or messages. When I try the same thing in my test environment, the same as my customer, Win 2003 server and Win XP sp2 everything adobe reader works without problems. The only difference in my customers gpo compared to mine is that there are two other msi packages in the group policy, Office 2003 and an other. Do you have any idea? --- Well, now two days later we have found that the problem is in fact due to Office 2003 being installed by th GPO. If Office is installed manually the MSI works OK. The DLLs that the MSI installes are COM Addins adobe reader x for Office. 0 Comments [ + ] Show Comments Comments Please log in to comment There are no answers at this time Rating comments in this legacy AppDeploy message board thread won't reorder them,so that the conversation will remain readable. Quicly, heres the scenario.Windows 7 Professional x64We've got an existing VS 2008 solution with 3 or 4 crystal reports created with the included CR pack that comes with the installation. Everything works great here.I've recently installed a copy of VS2010 Professional and attempted to convert the 2008 solution using the built in wizard. The conversion completed, and the only issue at the end was a notification that I must manually install the CR 2010 SDK. I started with the first d/l link on this page: http://www.businessobjects.com/jump/xi/crvs2010/us2_default.aspCRforVS_13_0.exeI got an exception "Error 1904. ...... ReportPromptEMF.dll failed to register" I ignored another 10 or so similar exceptions and attempted to manually register those dlls. That also fails with "Invalid access to memory location" I uninstalled and just for S&G ran the SAP Crystal Reports runtime engine for .NET Framework 4 (64-bit). This process completed successfully. I tried the sdk again for VS2010 - same error. Process Mon shows: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\CTF\KnownClasses => NAME NOT FOUND => Desired Access Read^^ As the last entry for the installer.I've tried rolling back and reinstalling 3 or so times now with the same results. I still have VS2008 installed with the CR Basic for VS2008 and CR Basic Runtime for VS2008 / x64 installed. The only exceptions from my converted solution arise from the rpt files created in the 08 solution. If so uninstall the MacroMedia version it installs by default. Install CR again and then you should be able to upgrade the Macomedia from Dell. Also, I've seen cases where either you do not have enough permissions or your ant
