I was having a similar problem trying to download the newer Adobe Acrobat 11 using Firefox 17.0 on a Win XP Pro with SP 3. I kept getting a similar script error message; so I followed the link you gave. I was able to download Acrobat 11 with no problems. I download the updater and run it adobe reader and it comes up with a dialog box with the info below. Interestingly, even though I am running Firefox, the dialog box is "Internet Explorer Script Error" box. Note I can still view the PDF document by closing the Firefox notification bar that my plugin needs to be updated.
