Re: error 1324 when installing adobe reader bigdave_bluejay Jul 16, 2009 12:26 PM (in response to John T Smith) Thanks for the response, but the first thing I did was to read the forum that you pointed out. I did not find anything that had a definite solution outlined that related to my problem. The other problem is that the computer is at church and calling adobe is a problem for me, since I need to be in front of the computer to fix it and help them diagnose the problem.the only thing I have gathered from the posts and other websites is that it is related to the registry entries somehow. I dont know which ones it is having a problem with since there are no installation logs to refer to. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re:

Windows 7 IT Pro > Windows 7 Installation, Setup, and Deployment adobe reader install download Question 0 Sign in to vote 'Error 1324. The folder path 'My Pictures' contains an invalid character' message adobe reader offline installer is a huge problem with Windows 7. Anytime a user has folder redirection for document, pictures, music, ect... msi's will give the following message when configuring or installing. Not all https://forums.adobe.com/thread/463026 MSI's have a problem but some do and it makes deploying software a nightmare. Yes, I know there is the option of resetting your user shell folder paths back to default, but we need redirection and the msi packages do not like the HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ User Shell Folders. https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/7ef1e664-7dfa-4ac9-ac48-9ff41717f8f4/error-1324-the-folder-path-my-pictures-contains-an-invalid-character?forum=w7itproinstall Thursday, June 17, 2010 3:05 PM Reply | Quote Answers 11 Sign in to vote Hi Everyone, I'm a little late to the party but I might have some useful info. I just ran into this same issue. Windows 7 Pro, Win2003 SBS server domain, My Documents being redirected through a Group Policy Setting. My Documents redirects to \\SERVER\USERS\USERNAME. Error message that My Documents contains an invalid character. Like TS7, if the user logged in was a Domain Admin, this error did not occur. The difference between a Domain Admin and a Domain User? In my case, The Domain Admin has rights to the USERS folder I listed in the My Documents redirection path. A Domain User does not. A Domain User has full rights ONLY to their User Folder (The USERNAME) part. By giving the Domain Users READ access to the USERS folder (only that folder) the error went away. Apparently even though the user had full rights to their user folder, the fact that they didn't have any rights to the USERS folder in th
computer which had changed domain servers and had an old profile I experienced this error: "Error 1324.The path My Documents or the volume is invalid. Please enter it again." This told me the my documents http://getdeclue.com/2012/08/09/adobe-reader-install-failed-error-1324-the-path-my-documents-or-the-volume-is-invalid-please-enter-it-again/ folder was being redirected to an invalid location. I tried right clicking on my documents in the start menu but I was unable to change the path probably because of an old group policy. I figured I http://www.solvusoft.com/en/errors/runtime-errors/adobe-systems-inc/adobe-acrobat/1324-acrobat-9-error-1324/ would need to change it in the registry. The registry key for My Documents location is usually HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders But if it has been changed by group policy like in my case it is located here: adobe reader HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders The key is called personal in both locations. The way I fixed the adobe reader install problem was to change the my documents location back to a local location such as the default location of: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents. I also changed the location of my pictures, my music and my videos for good measure. I then downloaded the full installer from Adobe's website saved it in the local adobe reader install my documents location and the install finished successfully. { 4 comments… read them below or add one } md November 7, 2012 at 5:19 am Great Thank you for the info!
