Solved Automation Error from VB6.0 app Posted on 2004-09-30 Visual Basic Classic 1 Verified Solution 16 Comments 4,937 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 I've was https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa264508(v=vs.60).aspx given a VB6.0 application that is installed on an XP machine with Office 2000 using MSDE 2000. The problem is most likely caused by some form of binary incompatibility (ie. wrong version of COM DLL's, EXE's). If you have the source, you should open the project and check all the project references. Look for broken references first. If nothing looks fishy there, debug the project and start setting break points at points of failure. Some where along the way, you will nail down the object or method call that is firing the error. 0 Message Author Comment by:jedanner2004-09-30 what would a broken reference look like? what would a 'reference' reference ? The 1st box says it is a RUN-TIME ERROR '0'. On the top of that box is vbAccelerator SGrid II cont..... I click ok, then the next box appears. It says RUN-TIME ERROR '440' AUTOMATION ERROR I click on ok. Malwarebytes won't open up. I wrote to customer service and was provided a link to Microsoft for Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe) Still the problem exists. My next step is the uninstall if the last step didn't work. Anyone have suggestions? This has been going on for the past 2 days.
