RE: Cannot Create Bitmap - Error when opening a document on Terminal Server on Windows 2000.Posted by Christoph M. Noetzli on 20.Aug.03 at 05:51 AM using a Web browserCategory: Forum -- FeedbackRelease: 5.0.5Platform: Windows 2000 The problem can be solved by enlarging the cache size maximum (Workspace Properties). This problem occurs, because Lotus Notes handles pictures of other format than bitmap in a document to be opened on a server as if they were server-based design elements. If a document includes many pictures and therefore, is quite big, all the pictures within the document need to be "cached" and the cache might be temporarily too small in size. As the file "cache.dsk" is not really touched (enlarged) by such open document procedures, whereas with a too small cache size maximum you might experience very slow performance, but no errors in other procedures, this might be an undocumented "feature" of Lotus Notes. We have experienced, that some of our Lotus Notes Users had no problem to create such documents with a big number of pictures, but the same users were no longer able to open their documents afterwards in Lotus Notes. If they used the Internet Access (e.g. Internet Explorer) to open the documents no error occurred. Solution: -> Open Workspace Properties of the Client -> Enhance the Cache Size (second tab) If you rollout new Lotus Notes Clients you probably want to solve the problem in an early stage by enhancing the value "InitialCacheQuota" from 8192 to e.g. 43008 in the file "notes.ini". I have rendered out at 9000 pxels wide and I re-boot between each render as a work around. Maybe Max 8 is using more resources that 7 did. I have heard of some freeware RAM cleaners or re-set utilities. Maybe that would work too.
