Cannot create program workspace temp files Options View Previous Topic Next Topic N7QMT #1 Posted : Tuesday, February 5, 2013 2:03:50 AM(UTC) Rank: NewbieGroups: Registered Posts: 4Location: Vancouver, WAThanks: 1 times About a month ago I started getting errors when I started Logic 0 (I think about .50, but cannot check); this is also about the time I started using an instant backup program to copies files to an archive. The problems could be related, or might not; I do not know.I am running Windows XP SP 02 with SP3. My logic.exe file is 1240kB dated 1/2/2013 10:12 AM.At present, when I double click on the Logic icon, nothing happens. If I go to Prgram Files\Logic, right click Logic.exe, then https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa975334(v=vs.71).aspx I get an error: c:\program files\logic.exe c:\Docume~1\.............\Locals~1\Temp\VFP$2398_0292BEED.tmp FFFFFFFF - 5 - 1256, followed by another nearly identical error wih the file name ...BEEE.tmp with the same trailing characters. Then I get an error that may get close to the real problem, "Visual FoxPro cannot start. Cannot create program workspace temp files.I changed the file permissions on the temp space to allow writes (supposed to be that way anyway). When I ran again I got http://www.hosenose.com/forum/yaf_postst784_Cannot-create-program-workspace-temp-files.aspx similar errors. The config.fpw includes progwok=TMP, editwork=TMP, and sortwork=TMP. I have not tried changing TMP to TEMP in this file.Sure would like to get Logic working again and tackle a couple of radio interface issues. I really like the software, especially the flexibility.I also notice that I have a VFP8err.log file, and can send that if it helps figure out this problem. IF so, it sounds like your Windows installation is damaged. Do you have system restore turned on? Try recovering to before the error started occurring. The shortcut doing nothing points to Windows problems too.I am guessing you are trying to run LOGic from its install folder -- double-clicking or rightclick/open.Assuming that Windows is OK, the fact that the shortcut no longer works indicates that your LOGic installation is corrupt. Try reinstalling the CD on top of what is there (do not uninstall first), then install the lates update again.Quote:The config.fpw includes progwok=TMP, editwork=TMP, and sortwork=TMP. They have the http://computer-programming-forum.com/2-vfp/83c3ad0c8e4381b0.htm same rights as others for the >network directories concerned. This is usually caused by a problem accessing the TMPFILES location, as specified in the config file. Are you using an external or embedded config? You may want to double http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9075849/cannot-create-project-content-in-workspace-when-trying-to-recreate-a-project check the settings there, and make sure the necessary rights are available. The following is quoted from the FoxPro error listing help file, it may point you towards something you overlooked. "Cannot create program workspace" FoxPro was not able cannot create to create enough workspace upon startup. This may be due to insufficient access rights to a network directory or not enough disk space. To troubleshoot this problem, do the following: 1. Make sure you have enough disk space. 2. Make sure the FoxPro temporary files are directed to a drive that has enough disk space, and make sure a full path is given for the location of the temporary files (for example, C:\TEMP -- not just cannot create program TEMP). If the temporary files are directed to a network, check your access rights to the network share. Make sure you have at least these rights (Create, Write, Scan, Delete). 3. Set the FILES= setting in the CONFIG.SYS file to 99. 4. If you are on a Novell network, check the FILEHANDLES= setting in the NET.CFG or SHELL.CFG file. Raise the setting, or create one and make sure it is located in the same location where NETX is being called. 5. Make sure this line is in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file: SHARE /L:500 /f:5120 6. Check the amount of available conventional memory. 7. Start FoxPro with the -C option so that the configuration file is not used. Later I found some config problem with it and deleted the project from eclipse keeping the contents of the folder untouched. Now again I tried to create a new project with the same folder as the source folder. But Eclipse is not allowing me to do it and its giving error 'Cannot create project content in workspace'. I checked in the source folder for any .PROJECT files, but none is existing. Do anyone has a solution to this ? eclipse project recover share|improve this question asked Jan 31 '12 at 7:22 user1158831 1602310 add a comment| 4 Answers 4 active oldest votes up vote 28 down vote accepted As described by this message on the Eclipse forums, the project location you are selecting is already in your workspace. The "create from existing" feature needs to have the source located outside the workspace. You need to either move the source out of the workspace or create a New project giving the folder containing the project as the project name. share|improve this answer edited Apr 29 '12 at 22:08 answered Feb 1 '12 at 4:26 E-Riz 21k54782 29 In such moments I regret using Eclipse... –Zbigniew Wiadro Aug 6 '13 at 2:38 add a comment| up vote 5 down vote This is mainly an issue when trying to create a project in a nested sub folder of the workspace. If the project is in a direct sub folder of the workspace folder, just create a new project, use the folder's name as project name and everything will behave like you want to. Otherwise, I used these two solutions without any issue yet, but I think this may depend on which type of project you create (I use mainly pydev, CDT and DLTK): Make a link to the project outside of the workspace directory and import that link. Eclipse does not complain and you can reduce the 'outside' resources to a few symbolic links. Create a new stub project, copy all relevant project files (e.g. .buildpath, .project, ...) to the actual project folder. Then delete this
