They usually boil down to run configure: ./configure then run make: make and if you want to install the programs in a system area, run: sudo make install The configure step should search out the necessary parts (g++) and complain and stop if necesary parts are not found. It builds the Makefile from the information about your system. I had no issues with the download

However, after trying 3 different terminals/emulators I would receive the same error as shown quoted below. I've tried install "automake" from repositories as suggested through other answers found on here/Google with no luck. Here are the directory contents: http://i.imgur.com/uMDlO7O.png cc -O2 -Wall prefix.c -o prefix make: cc: Command not found make: *** [prefix] Error 127 http://stackoverflow.com/questions/30951279/linux-make-command-error-127 linux ubuntu terminal makefile share|improve this question asked Jun 20 '15 at 7:04 MerKury 1813 Looks like the command cc does not exist on your system. That would be the c compiler. –arkascha Jun 20 '15 at 7:07 If you have gcc but not cc, check if it will compile successfully with gcc. You can modify Makefile to change cc to gcc. –alvits Jun 20 '15 at 7:33 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 5 down vote accepted sudo apt-get install build-essential should install the requirements for compiling C/C++ based applications share|improve this answer answered Jun 20 '15 at 7:31 Uku Loskit 22.5k25266 1 U saved my ass m8, thx –TrudleR Mar 26 at 15:05 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. (sudo apt-get install g++) However, the g++ command make error 127 works perfectly, and is installed. Also, my system does not have an active Internet connection, so I can't run any apt-get command successfully. The make-command creates an output file, but I'm not sure if it's complete and working, since there is an error. Also, the make install command displays the exact same error. Any help, on how I can solve this Error? c++ ubuntu makefile share|improve this question asked Aug 22 at 8:22 Colin Landtwing 66 have you installed the package sudo apt-get install build-essential ? –KostasRim Aug 22 at 8:25 2 Note that the error message doesn't say it can't find g++, but that it can't find powerpc-fsl-linux-g++. I'm guessing you are trying to cross-compile something targeting Linux on a PowerPC platform? Then you need to install a compiler to handle that. –Joachim Pileborg Aug 22 at 8:29 @KostasRim I already tried that, but since my System doesn't have a connection, it won't install anythin (AFAIK). Is there a way to download it on a seperate computer and install it without an internet connection? –Colin Landtwing Aug

Can you post the full output? @rhoconlinux are you seeing the same make issue? Your pastebin link refers to a gyp issue. severin-lemaignan commented May 7, 2014 @george-b Yes, make is in my path :-) Full output (script/build 2>&1 | curl -F 'clbin=<-' https://clbin.com) here: https://clbin.com/HKVn6 Since I'm completely new to gyp, I do not know how to perform a VERBOSE compilation that could hint where the error actually lays...
