Error Decompressing Data Corrupted Installer Windows 8
Starter Joined: Jul 16, 2005 Messages: 4 A couple of days i formated and had fresh install of windows on my system, and i'm pleased to say that it has screwed my system up. I am now unable to install any games!! Firstly when trying to run GTA:SA the disc loads up and gets to the splash screen and an error comes up and says DemoShield Player has encountered a problem blah blah... So i try http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f269/error-decompressing-data-corrupted-installer-319177.html and run the setup exe from the disc by itself and get another error: Setup has experienced an error. Please do the following: Close any running programs, Empty your temp folder, check your internet connection. Then try to run the setup again. Error -6005 Then i try and run the PCGamer discs to load some demo's but the disc doesn't load up, instead i get another error: Macromedia Projector has encountered a problem blah blah... So i https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-installation-problems.381569/ again try and run the games from explorer, find the file and load up the installer, gets halfway through and says: Error decompressing data! Corrupted installer?? Whereas some other demo installers just freeze up! Please help, i'm really beginning to regret this format now slothmeister, Jul 16, 2005 #1 Sponsor Rollin' Rog Joined: Dec 9, 2000 Messages: 45,855 Are all of these installation attempts from CDs? And do you have any problems installing programs off the hard drive? The "error decompressing data" probably means the cab or compressed data files are getting corrupted (if not already corrupt) from disk to memory or hard drive. ... and for what it's worth it sounds like the installer being used is not the standard Windows Installer (msiexec) or InstallShield which would mean this is not a "Windows" problem per se. The installer for GTA:SA is actually the InstallShield installer. slothmeister, Jul 16, 2005 #3 Rollin' Rog Joined: Dec 9, 2000 Messages: 45,855 Post 8 in this thread is directed towards some InstallShield issues, and includes some directions for a "clean" reinstall of In
One of my friends just formatted his entire comp, and it says "error decompressing data! http://www.computerforum.com/threads/error-decompressing-data-corrupted-installer.46209/ corrupted installer?" every time he tries to install things. Some installs work, some don't. It seems there is no obvious connection between the ones that work, and those that don't. I've tried starting the installs with the /NCRC command, but that doesn't do anything. I also read somewhere, that this might be error decompressing due to a bad disk, so I tried installing a new harddisk. Didn't change anything. Anyone got any ideas? Would be nice... XP comes with it error decompressing data already, but I can't figure out why it'd be corrupted after a fresh install. Maybe this might work: http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/wininstallnt.html I'd try it. Tom OvenMaster, May 26, 2006 #2 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.)
