I am now unable to install any games!! Firstly when trying to run GTA:SA the disc loads up and gets to the splash screen and an error comes up and says DemoShield Player has encountered a problem blah blah... So i try and run the setup exe from the disc by itself and get another error: Setup has experienced an error. Please do the following: Close any running programs, Empty your temp folder, check your internet connection. Then try to run the setup again. Error -6005 Then i try and run the PCGamer discs to load some demo's but the disc doesn't load up, instead i get another error: Macromedia Projector has encountered a problem blah blah... So i again try and run the games from explorer, find the file and load up the installer, gets halfway through and says: Error decompressing data! Corrupted installer?? Whereas some other demo installers just freeze up! Please help, i'm really beginning to regret this format now slothmeister, Jul 16, 2005 #1 Sponsor Rollin' Rog Joined: Dec 9, 2000 Messages: 45,855 Are all of these installation attempts from CDs? And do you have any problems installing programs off the hard drive? The "error decompressing data" probably means the cab or compressed data files are getting corrupted (if not already corrupt) from disk to memory or hard drive. ... and for what it's worth it sounds like the installer being used is not the standard Windows Installer (msiexec) or InstallShield which would mean this is not a "Windows" problem per se. The installer for GTA:SA is actually the InstallShield installer. slothmeister, Jul 16, 2005 #3 Rollin' Rog Joined: Dec 9, 2000 Messages: 45

I've *ever* had a problem updating AnyDVD. Downloaded latest version. Clicked to install (yes to license, etc.) starts to install and get about https://forum.redfox.bz/threads/resolved-installation-error.26975/ 1/2 through and get this message: "error decompressing data! corrupted installer?" And won't finishing installing. At "Details" last entry is "Extract:RegAnyDVD.exe" When I click on my desktop icon, I http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/microsoft-public-windows-vista-general/319316-error-decompressing-data-corrupted-installer.html get this: "Install ADVDDiscHlp()failed! No change. (note: my only internet connection is Sprint Mobile Broadband and there's a 5GB cap per month on data downloads. I know that *this* alone won't get me there, but with other things I do, I'd like to keep the downloads down to a minimum). Any other suggestions? Can anyone explain to me - in non-tech English - what's going on? Is this a problem with the file I'm downloading (getting corrupted somehow or did my OS go wonky?) BTW, I'm getting tired and cranky - so I'll probably go to sleep and check on this in the am. Corrupted Installer? Hi everyone, Since I bought a new computer last week I´ve already spent four whole nights googling and reading forums trying to fix this problem with my Vista. Even though I found many complains about this problem in other forums, I couldn´t find any sollution. Nearly all software installation tools gave me some problem (all similar, but the results depend on the installation tool - install shield, windows installation tool...). The message I´ve got was always "*Error decompressing data! Corrupted installer?*" or "*Error 0x8004005 - unspecified error*". I could install some programs with the help of winrar - first decompressing the installer and executing the setup manually, so it doesn´t seems to be a problem of corrupted files. And sometimes if I try real hard (about 40 times), the installer works. I´ve already done a disk verification and memory verification to see if wasn´t a memory error or something like that, but nothing showed up. Yesterday I´ve downloaded windows installer 4.5 beta, and I could install some softwares without having any problem.
