If you don't remember even which they are, maybe try to restore the system to a previous date when everything worked or byte the bullet and make full clear new install. You can try to see if there are some broken codecs with Codec Sniper (or similar), but I don't think it will help much. Maybe try for the start to uninstal Xvid codec and to install it again. Within VirtualDub the best you can do is mark in a the first visible frame (thereby losing the first frame or two). Using AVISynth's AVISource() or DirectShowSource() should take care of the problem. It's been a while since I've seen that problem so I don't re

I used error decompressing Intel Indeo 4.3 as the compression Codec while saving. To make sure the process worked, I opened my first few small AVI files in Win Media Player and they looked and played great, no problems, so I proceeded, over the course of this weekend to convert nearly 5 hours of DVD footage to AVI format, still using the Indeo codec. However, just this evening I decided error decompressing audio to try and open one of these AVI files up in Virtual Dub. However, the program would not read the files and instead I got a message stating: "Error Decompressing video frame 0 A codec-specific error occurred (error code 1)" Curious, I tried to bring the footage into a couple different cheap little video editors I have on my computer (windows movie maker and Magix plus), but in both cases the footage comes out "black" as though there is no picture. However, I can still watch the footage in WinMedia, so there is obviously something wrong with the codec--I think--but I'm not savvy enough to know exactly what to do. I'd just redo the footage, but I just spent a weekend creating these AVIs and I don''t want to just dump them. Though I fear that is what I am going to have to do. Would a reinstallation of the Indeo Codec possibly fix this, and if so where can I get this codec for download? Thanks for any help.
