Jorrit Member Joined: Jun 4, 2001 Messages: 67 Likes Received: 0 at certain bosses the game gives an 'error decompressing sprite' an quits. blizzard response was to uninstall, then defrag, and then reinstall the game. didn't help. have you ever heard of such a crappy engine that needs you to defrag your drive? didn't have the problem with my previous computer. but apparantly it doesn't like my via chipset or something. did anyone have this problem? #1 Jorrit, Jun 5, 2001 tanstaafl Junior Member Joined: Jun 4, 2001 Messages: 10 Likes Received: 0 I had this problem a couple of times in the past. For me, it seemed to be a problem with reading the CD, possibly due to problems with the copy protection scheme. I copied all of the d2*.mpq files to the Diablo II directory on my HDD and the problem has not occurred since then. Also, you may want to make sure you have the latest patch, since I believe some of the later fixes were related to CD reading problems. #2 tanstaafl, Jun 6, 2001 Jorrit Member Joined: Jun 4, 2001 Messages: 67 Likes Received: 0 i already had all files on the hd, and have the problem with all patches. btw, newest patch is automatically installed when you connect to battle net. #3 Jorrit, Jun 6, 2001 (You must log in or sign up to post here.) I'm assuming you're running Diablo. One solution is to uninstall the game and then reinstall it again. Before reinstalling make sure the installation directory is empty.Blizzard's solution is to manually copy the file D2Char.MPQ off the Diablo II "Play Disk" into the Diablo II folder on their hard drive. If the problem is with some other game post back with more info.Cheers.RW 0Votes Share Flag Back to Software Forum 1 total post (Page 1 of 1) Search Start New Discussion Start New Discussion Create a new discussion If you're asking for technical help, please be sure to include all your system info, including operating system, model number, and any other specifics related to the problem.
