Normally I would perform a Repair Database command by holding down Option-Command while launching Aperture, but that just gave me the same error without any options to repair the database.Instead, I had to follow these instructions in the Aperture user manual. Have Westell DSL modem; Have had the Extreme also routing (but causing double http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/180191/why-do-i-need-to-repair-permissions-on-my-aperture-library-in-order-to-migrate NAT problems) so want to bridge it. Just got Airport Express, which I want to also put in bridge mode, connect to AEBS via Ethernet, providing wireless coverage in a distant room in the house.Question 1:Can both the Extreme and the Express be put in bridge mode, so that all they're doing is providing wireless coverage? I'd do error opening all my Port forwarding in the Westell then.Question 2: I thought I had the Express plugged into a port on the Extreme, but discovered it was actually plugged into the Westell (two wireless networks "side by side". If they're named the same, will it work that way? I would like access to the hard drive plugged into the Extreme, no matter which wireless network I'm accessing. My suspicion is that the setup will work, but error opening database it's not *really* extending my Extreme network at all; it's just another network. All the IPs though are coming from the Westell.I'm very confused! Top Advertisement Guest Re:Westell\/Airport Extreme\/Airport Express... Mon Apr 11, 2011 1:58 pm The Express can be connected via Ethernet to either (The Extreme and the Westell gateway are right next to each other). I just dont know whether there is any difference at all between plugging the Express into one of the Lan ports on the Extreme vs. one of the Lan ports on the Westell. The objective is that all wireless clients are on the SAME wireless network no matter which base station they are nearest to, and have the greatest throughput from the gateway. Top Guest Re:Westell\/Airport Extreme\/Airport Express... Mon Apr 11, 2011 2:23 pm I would suggest that you configure your network as follows:Westell gateway > Ethernet > [WAN] AEBSWestell gateway > Ethernet > AXThen reconfigure all routers for a roaming network. Top Guest Re:Westell\/Airport Extreme\/Airport Express... Mon Apr 11, 2011 3:30 pm Done! That works sweet! Speeds are good throughout the house; Port forwardaing to the Xbox much easier. Only problem I can see is my iphone wont stay connected for some reason. I reduced the multicast settings. Don't know what's up there. Here's an official knowledge base article on the permissions required and steps to fix it. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204484 Reading your alert, the step is probably precautionary to ensure that all the files are readable and ready to transfer. You can check the locking with Finder - select the Aperture Library and choose File -> Get Info. Observe the locked button and expand the Sharing & Permissions portion if needed. You probably need Read & Write permission on the folder and all it's contents. If you wanted to dive into terminal, I'd start at the bottom of the article and work upwards. I would let the tool work and contact AppleCare if it reports another error or doesn't fix the permissions after one pass. share|improve this answer edited Apr 9 '15 at 21:04 answered Apr 9 '15 at 19:15 bmike♦ 116k38202441 I sure hope it doesn't mess with my permissions (hands off Apple
