Thanks! Christian Crowder says June 28, 2016 at 4:35 pm I would try going into the task manager and killing everything Adobe related or making sure that no other users are in the file. This happened to me today and to fix there was an error opening this document. access denied adobe reader 11 it, I had to install all of the Adobe updates, kill the Adobe tasks then it opened fine. This error is created for security if someone else is in the file (or if you lock the file on your machine to begin with). This locks the file to the original person who opened it, and creates a "Read Only" copy when you open it. Like I said, try your updates and then kill Adobe in task manager. files from a website or something that isn't coming from a very long there was an error opening this document. access denied adobe reader dc file path, do not expect this solution to help you. I don't have a way to change this globally, so adobe reader there was an error opening this document. this file cannot be found it's going to have to be done on a case-by-case basis. While it is clear that the Win32 APIs from Microsoft do limit file paths to 260 characters on a DFS share, not http://www.technipages.com/acrobat-reader-11-fix-there-was-an-error-opening-this-document-access-denied all programs utilize those Win32 APIs. NitroPDF doesn't, Adobe Reader X doesn't, and others don't either. Adobe XI, on the other hand, does use them apparently, but only in the default "Protected" mode. So, the solution for this problem is to prevent Protected mode from running at Adobe Reader XI startup. Here's how: 1. Open Adobe Reader 2. click the "Edit" menu, and select "Preferences..." 3. On http://helpdesk.maytechgroup.com/support/solutions/articles/129667-adobe-reader-xi-access-denied-message-opening-network-files the left-hand "Categories:" menu, select "Security (Enhanced)". 4. In the "Sandbox Protections" section, uncheck the box at the top left called "Enable Protected Mode at Startup" 5. Close all open instances of Adobe Reader, and the problem is resolved. It should be noted that PDF files are one of the most common vehicles for malware attack, so disabling protected mode is not recommended unless you're working with documents you trust. This should be considered a stop-gap solution or a workaround at best. To really solve the problem, you need to move the files to a shorter network path. Did you find it helpful? Access denied. This morning I tried to open a PDF from GroupWise, our email program. Immediately, I got an error message in Adobe Acrobat Reader X, "There was an error opening this document. Access denied." Since we recently upgraded to Adobe Reader 10.0 (X), I figured it was a new security setting in the application. As it turns out, this new version of Acrobat is using the "principle of least privilege". I darn near bored myself to death reading a three-part series on Adobe's new Protected Mode. To make things simple for you, here are two ways for you fix the problem: A. Fix One PC Launch Adobe Acrobat Reader X Go to: Edit > Preferences... Click on "General" in the left pane. Uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup" You will prompted with a dialog box to remind you to close the application for the change to go into effect. Click Yes. Click OK to save your change. DC 2015.007 on a Remote desktop server. Users who tried to open a .pdf file from outlook were prompted with the issue "There was an error opening this document. Access denied." However, if the users on the RDS server saved the file there was no issues opening the file. This because the attachment .pdf file in outlook is classed as an unknown source from internet. Why? PDF files have grown from beeing static documents to beeing dynamic and smart documents. PDF files have functions like running scripts on startup. This make pdf files a vulnerability from a security perspective. Therefor Adobe have a builtin protection from pdf files from unknown sources called "Protection mode" or "Sandbox Protection" Turn of "Protected mode" on a client/users RDS profile: Open Adobe Reader DC Click "Edit" and choose "Preferences" Click on "Security (Enhanced)" and unmark "Enable Protected mode at startup" This might be a quick solution if you have a handful users, but if you have 250 users in a RDS enivoriment? Not so much. Turn of "Protected mode" through GPO ( The fast way ) You can turn of "protected mode" through changing a registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\Privileged\ Change the valvue "bProtectedMode"=dword:00000001 to "bProtectedMode"=dword:00000000 This will workout just fine, but there is a better way, Through ADMX files. Turn of "Protected mode" through ADMX GPO: When using a ADMX template for the appropriate software, you can make several changes in the software easy. You will have easier to understand the changes and valvues in the GPO instead of having registry keys changed. How to: Access one of your domain controller Download the ADMX files from adobe ( ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/AcrobatDC/misc/ReaderADMTemplate.zip ) unzip the files Take a copy of C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain\Poli
