Sometimes this can help remove lock files if they were accidentally sent with the FGDB. –Mintx Mar 28 '14 at 20:54 1 @Mintx Compact may not get the same reduction in size as Compress but if lock (sr.lock) files are the problem then the asker may be able to look for and delete them in the file geodatabase folder via Windows Explorer. –PolyGeo♦ Mar 28 '14 at 21:11 No sr.lock files. I want to create a new feature class in an existing filebased geodatabase which I have connected in ArcCatalog. The http://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/91313/why-does-compressed-zipped-unzipped-file-geodatabase-give-open-failed-error-op filebased geodatabase is located in a server folder, which I can access via network folder share. On creating the new feature class in the filebased geodatabase via ArcCatalog I get this error message:"Failed to create feature class. Access denied. Access denied [GDB_SystemCatalog]"So I wonder why I cannot write into that .gdb because:- I do have file system write access https://geonet.esri.com/thread/17026 on the .gdb's folder (on the whole network share in fact)- I have started ArcCatalog with ArcEditor licenceWhat else could make me deny the write access to the file based geodatabase?Thank you for any hint!OutcomesVisibility: Managing Data6370 ViewsLast modified on Nov 21, 2010 11:27 PMTags:managing_dataContent tagged with managing_datagdbContent tagged with gdb_geodatabaseContent tagged with _geodatabaseThis content has been marked as final.
