Can you please check the Taskmanager if there is a xpicleanup.exe running. If so, can you end this process and try the installation of Thunderbird 2 again ? The message was Error opening file for writing: \r\n\r\nthunderbird.exe\r\n\r\nClick Retry to try again, or \r\nCancel to stop the installation. Predictably, Thunderbird 1.5 was running, but still, the error message should be corrected to remove the visible \r\n control codes...
