can mplayer play flash? Messages sorted by: [ date ] cannot open powerpath. initialization error [ thread ] [ subject ] [ author ] I recently downloaded and installed the rpms for mplayer onto my Fedora Core 1 system. At first I was getting the error, "Error opening/initializeing the selected video_out (-vo) device, https://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-list/2005-November/msg02750.html but I found online that I could change the vo setting in /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf file, line 11 to x11. It worked for a couple of days, but then it started giving me some error about using up too much of http://mplayerhq.hu/pipermail/mplayer-users/2004-July/046605.html the CPU. I went back into the /etc/mplayer/mplayer.conf file this evening to try working around it. I found it set back to vo again. I changed it to x11 (which worked before), but I keep getting this same Error opening/initializing video_out (-vo) device error. It seems like it isn't realizing that I've changed the setting. Is there something else I have to do? Do I have to restart some mplayer server or something to fix this? Please help! Previous message: [MPlayer-users] can mplayer play flash? opening/initializing the selected video_out (-vo) deviceNow, I had not chose one. I even deleted my ~/.mplayer folder but nothing, http://thegreyblog.blogspot.com/2009/06/mplayer-error-openinginitializing.html it got stucked there. It's strange, because mplayer should have chosen automatically a video_out device on startup and I swear I never had this problem before on my https://community.intuit.com/articles/1128770-error-initializing-qbpos-application-log-if-this-happens-please-contact-technical-support Debian/testing.In fact, I had just reinstalled a Debian/testing distribution on Sun xVM VirtualBox on a Solaris Express Community Edition host, because I'm using it as a platform error opening for video transcoding. I'd like to do that on Solaris but I haven't found the time to recompile at least ffmpeg, if not mplayer and all of its dependencies. Blastwave's ffmpeg, indeed, is way too old and I found some bugs that prevented it doing its job. Until then, and thanks to VirtualBox, I'll error opening initialising use Debian/testing instead. Now, the solution's pretty easy but I'd like to rely on autoprobing...
