Versions of Exchange > Exchange Previous Versions - Administration, Monitoring, and error opening message store (msems) Performance Question 0 Sign in to vote hi all,i am facing some issue in running exmergei create the one security group and user account with on mailbox and add this user id to this security groupthen i delegate this security group to as a exchange full adminitrator, but when i log on the backend server and try to run this, it gives us below mention error.[13:03:38] Error opening message store (EMS). Oh yeh, you may need to wait for couple of hours to get IS cache permission refreshed so wait for sometime and try again (You can restart the information store service to apply the permission immediately but it will affect all the users of that server)... I am trying to remove mailboxes from the store error opening that are no longer required. Whilst they can be deleted, I would rather have a backup of them for future use. Each ttime I try, with whatever account I use, I get the exact same error Error opening message store (MSEMS). Verify that the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service is running and that you have the correct permissions to log on. (0x8004011d) At first I tried using the administrator account but that didn't error opening message work (I'm assuming the deny permissions on Send/Receive As prevents this), I then tried to use a service account which has been created using the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/292509

By default domain admins and exchange admins have deny on Send as and Receive as permissions. There is some info here http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/ExMerge-Recover-Mailbox.html I was able to work around it by creating new AD user and assign this account needed permissions as showed in the article.
