For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Have tried the soft recover and repair and neither are getting rid of this message. We are also getting event ID 494 stating the secedit.sdb file is missing, but it isn't. We've confirmed it's there. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. For applying the security policy portions of a GPO on a Windows machine, Windows uses the secedit configuration engine and its local security database, secedit.sdb. The secedit database can be found on every Windows box in the \%windir%\security\database file system folder. If the secedit database gets corrupted, it can prevent the security policy settings that are defined in a GPO from being correctly applied on a machine. You can check the health of secedit.sdb by using the esentutl.exe command, as follows: esentutl /g %windir%\security\database\secedit.sdb If esentutl finds errors during the health check, the output of the above command will contain the message, "This operation may find that this database is corrupt." If the database is healthy, you should get an output similar to the one illustrated in Figure 1. Figu

Solved Secedit.sdb Error Posted on 2011-09-16 Windows 7 1 Verified Solution error opening 1 Comment 2,276 Views Last Modified: 2016-09-30 I have a Windows 7 machine that is reporting Source: SceCli (Event ID: 1005): Some Jet database is corrupt. I ran the suggested esentutl /g which reported no errors. I tried running with /r and /p which would not run. I then tried to run: 1. Open the %SystemRoot%\Security folder, error opening secedit create a new folder, and then name it "OldSecurity". 2. Move all of the files ending in .log from the %SystemRoot%\Security folder to the OldSecurity folder. 3. Find the Secedit.sdb file in the %SystemRoot%\Security\Database folder, and then rename this file to "Secedit.old". 4. Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK. 5. Click Console, click Add/Remove Snap-in, and then add the Security and Configuration snap-in. 6. Right-click Security and Configuration and Analysis, and then click Open Database. 7. Browse to the %SystemRoot%\Security\Database folder, type Secedit.sdb in the File name box, and then click Open. 8. When you are prompted to import a template, click Setup Security.inf, and then click Open. However attempts failed with "Access to database has been denied" errors. No matter what login I use. I even tried logging in as local administrator in Safe mode. So I'm thinking the DB may not be corrupt just can't be accessed because of permissions. Has anyone come across similar issue? I've already tried sugegstions from: http://forums.techarena.in/small-business-server/434820.htm 0 Questi
