Things I've tried: > Removed extra VSS providers from the Hyper-V host > Added [HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Data Protection Manager\Agent\UseSystemSoftwareProvider] to the registry on the Hyper-V host > Followed the steps for migrating from the system VSS provider to the hardware VSS provider > Verified that VDS/VSS in the EqualLogic Group Manager has access to the cluster/node Environment: DPM 2010 on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 Hyper-V host with VMs residing on a Dell EqualLogic PS6100X These VMs were once on physical drives on the Hyper-V host. The VMs were then moved to an EqualLogic SAN and the physical drives were removed. When I modify the protection group and look at the Hyper-V host machine, the machines are still checked as being part of the protection group. However, performing any kind of backup fails. Do I need to unprotect and reprotect these machines? I certainly do not want to go in that direction, but I will if I have to. Also, if that's what it takes to resolve this problem, how can I successfully move VMs from a physical drive on a Hyper-V host machine to the EqualLogic SAN? Thanks in advance!!! Did you find a resolution? We are having similar issue with NBU 6.5.4 server and client. The change between 6.5.x and 7.0.x is that now the DFS drive data is going to try to backup inside the SCC job. So it will be a big job and always a full. Example. I have drive E as a dfsr drive. I do all local drives. E only gets a few meg. SCC is huge - you need to make sure that it is using VSS (client attributes in master server properties). SCC does not do incrementals. So if you get the SCC job to finish and you go look at it in the BAR you will see DFS and all your files that reside on your DFS drives. My issue was that it took 2.5 days to backup the DFS drives in the one BIG SCC job. So I turn dfs off (via bpstart_notify and bpend_notify) so the backup of the E drive gets those files ( and is able to do an incremental) and the SCC does all its other stuff but does not backup the files from the DFS drives. 0 Kudos Reply Rather than stop the DFS Giroevolver Level 6 12-15-2010 01:52 AM Options Mark as New Bookmark Subscribe Subscribe to RSS Feed Highlight Print Email to a Friend Report Inapprop
