Normally it doesn't matter where you put them as Windows stores the location of the file in the system registry once the file has been registered. However as it is a Microsoft one it should really go in system32 where all it's other Microsoft dll pals live. To register the dll do the following: Copy the file to C:\Windows\System32 (95, 98 or XP) or C:\Winnt\System32 (NT or 2000) Click Start, then Run, type RegSvr32 full path of file in the Run box then click OK e.g. regsvr32 C:\Windows\System32\MSSTDFMT.DLL You should get a message box saying RegSvr32 successfully registered the file. You're done. If you get a message saying it could not be registered it will usually be due to one of two reasons. 1. The file is unregistered (a specific type of dll that does not need to be registered, not as common as the self registering types that expose an entry point for use by regsvr32), in which case
