When i attempt to install Visual Basic 6.0, i first recieve an error labeled "Error While Configuring ODBC Drivers", with the error message "ODBC's SQLinstalldrivermanager failed". I click Ok and proceed to install Visual Basic, until i am hit with another error (not sure if this is related to the first error) with message "scrrun.dll was unable to register itself in the system registry." I have tried registering it manually with regsvr32.exe, and automatically with windows script 5.6, and both come up with an error when trying to register it. Ive also tried deleting scrrun.dll and copying the file from my xp cd over, and still get the same error. Ive also checked to make sure i have the necessary permissions to register the .dll. I know this may sound like a Visual Basic issue, but because it deals with a windows .dll i thought it should go here. Help with this question is greatly appreciated, and look forward to your replies Andrew Andrew_C_, Sep 4, 2005 #1 Sponsor Rollin' Rog Joined: Dec 9, 2000 Messages: 45,855 Can you install this? http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/downloads/updates/sp/vs6/sp5/default.aspx Seems to have worked here... http://www.experts-exchange.com/Programming/Programming_Languages/Visual_Basic/Q_21084207.html Rollin' Rog, Sep 5, 2005 #2 Andrew_C_ Thread Starter Joined: Sep 4, 2005 Messages: 4 Yes Rollin' Rog, i had read that article a while ago, and i do not understand how the accepted answer is the solution. I have downloaded SP 6 for VB6, but you cannot install it without first installing VB6 to your system, so you can see the problem! Scrrun.dll is a type of DLL file associated with MSDN 2939 developed by Microsoft for the Windows Operating System. The latest known version of Scrrun.dll is 1.0.0.0, which was produced for Windows. This DLL file carries a popularity rating of 1 stars and a security rating of "UNKNOWN". What Are DLL Files? DLL ("dynamic link library") files https://forums.techguy.org/threads/solved-scrrun-dll-wont-register-looking-for-help.396412/ such as scrrun.dll are small programs, similar to EXE ("executable") files, which allow multiple software programs to share the same functionality (eg. printing). For example, let's say you are running Windows and editing a document in Microsoft Word. The DLL file that controls printing does not need to load unless it's function is needed - eg. you decide to print your document. When you select "Print", Microsoft Word calls the printer DLL http://www.solvusoft.com/en/files/missing-not-found-error/dll/windows/microsoft/msdn-2939/scrrun-dll/ file, and it is loaded into memory (RAM) at that time. If you want to print a document in another program, Adobe Acrobat for example, that same printer DLL file will be used as well. Why Do I Have DLL Errors? Because they are shared files, DLL files exist outside of the software application itself. Although this provides many benefits for software developers, this separation also provides an opportunity for problems to occur.Quite simply, if Windows cannot properly load your scrrun.dll file, you will encounter an error message. Please see "Causes of scrrun.dll Errors" below for more information. When Do DLL Errors Occur? DLL errors, such as those associated with scrrun.dll, most often occur during computer startup, program startup, or while trying to use a specific function in your program (eg. printing). Common Scrrun.dll Error Messages The most common scrrun.dll errors that can appear on a Windows-based computer are: "Scrrun.dll not found." "The file scrrun.dll is missing."
