5000 50.2 Fuser Error

HP wants $900 to fix it, which sounds excessive. Is this something I can handle myself? I work on my HP DesignJet 430, and service my own car, so working on it doesn't scare me. Where do I start?I searched the archives for this, and found 50.2 fuser error hp 5000 someone with and "Error 52.0" which was attributed by a respondent to the fuser, but the message number 50.2 fuser error p4015 was different. Thanks! Respond to this 0 Most likely you need to just replace the fuser. Not really too tough to replace, with any technical skill. But NOT 50.2 fuser error laserjet pro 400 worth $900 for HP to fix it. by mharris on Jan 18, 2006 at 3:33pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 That is indeed a fuser error. Easy to replace, just drop down the back cover, release the plastic strap which holds the

door from falling down, move to one side and the back comes off. Remove 2 screws and the fuser slides out. It can be tight on both sides so a small flat tip screwdriver moving a little at a time from each side will release it. You can get reconditioned fusers from partsnow.com or depot-america.com on advance exchange. Heck you could even order a maintenance kit from hp for a lot less money. Try the 2 souces above. by dmzcompute on Jan 18, 2006 at 3:34pm Add comment Please sign in 50.2 fuser error p3015 to comment 0 Thanks for the advice! I'm getting aquote on a fuser, and hope to install it myself in the next couple of days. by sfe39 on Jan 18, 2006 at 4:20pm Add comment Please sign in to comment I don't know if you read my reply, but I run the fixyourownprinter site. We stock the fuser heating assemblies. It's cheaper to replace just that than a whole fuser. We have them in stock and even have a video that covers the entire procedure. - moe 0 You don't need the whole fuser, just the heating element. I can supply that and a video that shows how to install it. Click on my name and email me for pricing and ordering info. by moe on Jan 18, 2006 at 4:36pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I have replaced the fuser. I can print now, but with ghosting. I can open the top cover and close it and it prints right. Any suggestions? by darrell fuller on Apr 25, 2007 at 8:37am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I don't know why it would work when you open and close the cover, but the troubleshooting procedure is the same.Do a half self test on the printer to isolate the problem. The purpose of the test is to see what the page looks like before it goes through the fuser.Print a page while feeding from the MP input tray, (Tray-1).When the paper has fed almost all the way in to the printer pop open the cover to stop the printing process. Open the printer remove the

Cycled power - took out fuser - reseated - still have same error. I'm thinking its most likely the fuser has gone bad but I suppose it could be the power supply also. Any way to know for certain? I have a digital volt meter and can check resistance across the pin outs of the fuser, but what pins and how much resistance????? I'm also a little confused about Fusers. The fuser part number in the printer is http://printertechsforum.com/forum/showthread.php?15-Laserjet-5000-Error-50-2-Fuser-Error RG5-3528 but I also find fusers for the same printer using part number RG5-5455. Will they both work??? Also does anyone have a used fuser for the LJ 5000 you might want to sell??? If either are open replace the fuser. The photo on the page shows 4 large connectors and 4 small connectors all ligned up. The 4 large connectors are above the 4 small connectors the large ones are j1308-1 through 4. A 50.2 error is the fuser warm up service. It also says to shut the printer off for 20 minutes to clear the error. I took the HP LaserJet course 2 weeks ago so I don't have any experiance yet. I have to check the book. HP & Canon often changes part numbers and I've seen a different part number show up on some of the recent shipments of 5000 fusers we've received. Sit

While it is nice to truely know what's going on in the machine, not very many parts in the fusing units can be ordered. At the low-cost of the fusers it doesn't make too much sense ordering parts when refurbished fusers can be bought so cheap. Plus, with the quality of most rebuilt fusers being better than what it has ever been it's not really a hard decision to buy one. With all that being said, the 50.2 fuser error message on the HP laserjet 5200 is a warmup service error. HP 5200/5025/5035 Fuser AssemblyTroubleshooting The HP 5200 LaserJet 50.2 Fuser ErrorFirst thing to try in troubleshooting the HP laserjet 5200 50.2 fuser error message is just turning off and on the machine. I replaced one last week that was giving this error every few weeks for a few months before they finally got sick of it and called me out to replace it. Second, check and make sure the power cable is directly plugged into a wall socket. These machines draw a lot of power so they should never be plugged into a power strip with other devices, battery back up, and make sure there are no other large equipment or heater type products on the same circuit. Heater devices include: coffe makers, copiers, laser or solid ink printers, and space heaters. Another thing to check if you just replaced it is if you were shipped the right fuser for the machine and voltage type. The 220v fuser fits in the machine but will not heat up properly giving poor print quality or possible errors like the 50.2 fuser error. Last thing to try is leaving the machine unplugged for 10 to 20 minutes and then plug back in and try again. If that fails then its time to replace the fuser. Conclusion About the HP LaserJet 5200 50.2 Fuser ErrorYeah, there are ways to check the OHM readings on the fuser thermistors but replacing the heating element will only save you a few bucks than replacing the whole fuser so I'm not going to go into detail. Also, the DC controller or power supply are other options but after
