5100 series printer, you probably need to replace the fuser. Fusers are a consumable hp 5100 fuser part and are sold as part of a maintenance kit; it is expected over the life of the printer you will

replace the fuser several times. HP estimates average fuser life to last between 100,000 to 150,000 pages; but a fuser can fail much earlier depending on printing conditions, heavy paper jams, and the quality 50.1 fuser error hp laserjet p1102 of the fuser installed. For a temporary fix, you can try turning your printer off and back on again. Sometimes the reboot will allow the fuser to reset itself and you can print a few more pages. If the 50.1 Fuser error message returns, it's time to replace your fuser. Also, on these LaserJet 5000 & 5100 series printers, when the fuser fails with a 50.1 error we recommend you 50.1 fuser error hp 9050 replace the entire maintenance kit including the paper feed components, NOT just the fuser. It is very common on this model to see the rollers & separation pads wear out, even before the fuser fails. Paper won't feed properly, misfeeds can occur, and if paper jams inside the fuser it can damage the sensitive heating element in the fuser. Better to change ALL the maintenance kit parts at the same time as the fuser, than to just install a new fuser and have the new fuser damaged shortly after because of a bad paper jam. HP wants $900 to fix it, which sounds excessive. Is this something I can handle myself? I work on my HP DesignJet 430, and service my own car, so working on it doesn't scare me. Where do I start?I searched the archives for

this, and found someone with and "Error 52.0" which was attributed by a respondent to the fuser, 50.1 fuser error hp 9040 but the message number was different. Thanks! Respond to this 0 Most likely you need to just replace the fuser. Not really too tough to replace, with

any technical skill. But NOT worth $900 for HP to fix it. by mharris on Jan 18, 2006 at 3:33pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 That is indeed a fuser error. Easy to replace, just drop down the back cover, http://www.printertechs.com/printer-troubleshooting/369-50-1-error-on-hp-laserjet-5000-5100 release the plastic strap which holds the door from falling down, move to one side and the back comes off. Remove 2 screws and the fuser slides out. It can be tight on both sides so a small flat tip screwdriver moving a little at a time from each side will release it. You can get reconditioned fusers from partsnow.com or depot-america.com on advance exchange. Heck you could even order a maintenance kit from hp for a lot less money. Try the 2 souces above. by dmzcompute http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/35332 on Jan 18, 2006 at 3:34pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thanks for the advice! I'm getting aquote on a fuser, and hope to install it myself in the next couple of days. by sfe39 on Jan 18, 2006 at 4:20pm Add comment Please sign in to comment I don't know if you read my reply, but I run the fixyourownprinter site. We stock the fuser heating assemblies. It's cheaper to replace just that than a whole fuser. We have them in stock and even have a video that covers the entire procedure. - moe 0 You don't need the whole fuser, just the heating element. I can supply that and a video that shows how to install it. Click on my name and email me for pricing and ordering info. by moe on Jan 18, 2006 at 4:36pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I have replaced the fuser. I can print now, but with ghosting. I can open the top cover and close it and it prints right. Any suggestions? by darrell fuller on Apr 25, 2007 at 8:37am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I don't know why it would work when you open and close the cover, but the troubleshooting procedure is the same.Do a half self test on the printer to isolate the problem. The purpose of the test is to see what the page looks like before it goes through the fuser.Print a page while feeding from the MP input tray, (Tray-1).When the paper has fed
