Locate the ECU under the carpet in the passenger foot well. Find the red LED in the center of the ECU. Turn the ignition to ON. The red LED should flash once when this happens to indicate that the ECU has power. If there are no further flashes then there are no error codes. If there are further flashes then there are one or more error codes. To get the number of the stored error code you need to count the number of long flashes and the number of short flashes. The long flashes will occur before the short ones. A long flash represents 10, and a
throwing codes 10 and 14 (IAT Sensor, and IAC Valve). I took out the intake air temp. sensor which was on the NO.1 intake runner, and found the end of the probe was all burnt. I replaced this part and reset the compter and it is still giving me this code along with IAC valve code. The car idles around 900rpm or so, and when I open the throttle even the slightest the rpms drop to almost a stall than it starts to rev up, also the engine will rev up to redline but if you open the throttle all the way it stutters violently than it will carry on, and it might stutter again. Help me please. Aaron91ef901-08-2004, 10:51 PMI just did the exact same swap and my ecu was showing the same codes. Check around and make sure that you have everything plugged in. I didn't have one plug plugged in. I still have the Intake air temp sensor code (10) showing and I checked the plug and everything. If you have a multimeter you could check to see it the IAT sensor has 1-4 K ohms resistance between the two pins. The manual that I read said that if it doesn't show that much resistance the plug could be bad. You could also check the plug to see if you get about 5V if you ground out the black lead and touch the red lead to the wire that is red I think(when the key is turned to the on position of course). THe other wire should be green and white and you can also check for the same voltage between the green and the red (I think thats the color) wires in the plug. I did all of this and everything checked out, and Im still getting the 10 code on my ECU, so I don't know what to do now. I hope that some of that could help you. K_millar01-11-2004, 03:11 PMThanks for the info, I'll try doing those tests. Does your car act the same way mine does? Aaron91ef901-20-2004, 04:49 PMYA, my engine was doing the exact same thing and then I checked out the sensor which was good and the wires were good. I ordered another ECU and now it works alright, so they sent me a bad ecu with my engine. K_millar01-23-2004, 01:12 PMOkay, so let me get this straight... Your engine had the same 2 code mine did, Than you eliminated the IAC code, but still had the IAT code.(correct?) And when you got a new ECU the IAT code went away? Add your comment to this topic!
