Service Due Soon A1 Honda Civic 2013
ok, my car is about at 10k miles now, and an A1 code popped up. so according to my manual, an A1 error code means to service due soon a1 honda civic 2015 it is time to rotate the tires and change the oil. It also says that my car has 10% oil life. The problem is that I had my oil changed at 7k a while back. Does the code pop up based on honda pilot service code a1 a set number of miles, or does it actually read my oil somehow and tells me that I really do have 10% oil life? And when they say '10% oil life,' it's the quality of the oil, not the amount of the oil right? #1 Semidevil, Nov 19, 2011 nedfunnell Senior member Joined: Nov 14, 2009 Messages: 372 Likes Received: 0 Yes, it actually has a way to measure your oil's useful life. If I recall correctly, it's based on the history of how the

engine's been driven (babied driving = longer oil life) and may actually be taking some measurement of viscosity or pressure drop as well. #2 nedfunnell, Nov 19, 2011 LTC8K6 Lifer Joined: Mar 10, 2004 Messages: 23,790 Likes Received: 18 Also, Honda likes you to keep the factory oil in for a long time for engine break in, I believe, so that may be why the code popped up now. #3 LTC8K6, Nov 19, 2011 NutBucket Lifer Joined: Aug 30, 2000 Messages: 24,652 Likes Received: 10 And you do need to reset the oil life monitor manually This probably why it popped up now. I got service code A1 at 15% oil life after putting about 8500 miles on my CR-Z. It also bugs me that Honda would actually specify that only the oil needs to be changed, not the filter. That's crazy! Code A is oil only, B is oil and filter. Just seems like recipe for disaster. #4 NutBucket, Nov 19, 2011 Semidevil Diamond Member Joined: Apr 26, 2002 Messages: 3,010 Likes Received: 0 So is it because my oil needs to be changed or is it because the monitor was not reset? The center that did my oil change says its good for 7k, so technically have about 2k left. #5 Semidevil, Nov 19, 2011 NutBucket Lifer Joined: Aug 30, 2000 Messages: 24,652 Likes Received: 10 They did not reset it. There's really nothing wrong with changing oil too frequently except wasting money. On my car I plan on chan
the warranty just ran out on my car, I decided to get smart and find a good mechanic instead of taking it to the dealer. Boy, was I stupid in choosing service due soon a1 honda civic 2012 this mechanic (who shall remain nameless). He did the service and showed me the dirty honda civic service codes cabin air filter and charged me $160! It would have been cheaper with even the most disparaged Honda dealer in the

bay area. Normally, if I were at the dealer, I would be on my full guard and suspicious of everything they recommend. Since I was at a independent mechanic who seemed like an honest guy, I https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/honda-insight-error-code-a1-help.2206885/ let my guard down. I didn't even ask for an estimate thinking, just how much can anyone charge for an oil change and tire rotation. Well, as I found out later, too much! Basically, I overpaid much more than what my wife does when she goes to the dealership. texases 2011-09-13 21:37:25 UTC #2 Yep, live and learn. Folks like to cut down dealers, but independent shops can be no better, it just http://community.cartalk.com/t/160-for-honda-civic-a1-service/67895 depends. But you now know to specify the needed work, and ask for an estimate. I've been there.... Oh, and it seems the 'cabin air filter' is the 'fuel system flush' money maker these days. I just order them from rockauto, do it myself. The price shops want for these things is crazy! ken_green 2011-09-13 23:12:24 UTC #3 "ooh, I think something's wrong with the car, think I'll have it checked."...$100.00"think I'll get it fixed."...$200.00 +"Oh, and while you're at it.." another $100.00 Those little twentys don't mean anything to a car place. jtsanders 2011-09-14 00:12:52 UTC #4 You can inspect and change the cabin air filter yourself.Empty the glove box, squeeze on the sides while it's open, and it will come loose. Let it hang down, and you will see the cabin air filter behind where the glove box was. There might be a door, but just move it out of the way. BTW, what was the price breakdown for the cabin air filter replacement? If it was $160 for the air filter alone, I'd call the police - that's robbery. It should cost no more than $50; filter included. It should be in your owners manual.
