Am using the "least privilege" approach to service accounts, as outlined in http://sharepointgeorge.com/2010/installing-sharepoint-2010-privilege-service-accounts/. Have also reviewed MS documentation. All is fine https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/psssql/2013/10/04/invalid-or-loopback-address-when-configuring-sharepoint-against-a-sql-server/ until I run the configuration wizard. When I specify "(local)" as the SQL server address, I get a "configuration failed" dialog box that says "One or more configuration settings failed." Specifically, it says "failed to create the configuration database" because "(local) is an invalid or loopback address." When I check my SQL Management Studio, I see that in https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/494952d5-b859-4ef9-b5d8-995209648fba/invalid-or-loopback-address-error-when-specifying-local-as-the-sql-database?forum=sharepointadminprevious fact a new database named SharePoint_Config has been created. How am I supposed to designate the local instance of SQL as the location for the SQL server? Thanks. when you are initially installing SharePoint 2013. I thought for a while it was because I was trying to install everything on a domain controller however it turned out this is not the case. The problem is that it will still look for a default port of 1433 even its a declaratively specified differernt port. In order to solve this error, do the following: Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Security, and then clicking Windows Firewall. Click Allow a program through Windows Firewall. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation. Click Add port. In the Name box, type a name that will help you remember what the port is used for. Click UDP. In the Port number box, type the 1433. To change scope for the port, click Change scope, and then click the option that you want to use. ("Scope" refers to the set of computers that can use this port opening.) Click Ok. On the Start menu, click Run. In the Run dialog box, type cmd. From the command prompt, type net start sqlbrowser. And, at the end of the day, consider that non-default ports will be supported at some point :p Related posts: ForeFront TMG and Active FTP Issues An ACTUAL Fix For TFS SSRS Error Query Execution Failed For Data Set Office Web Apps SharePoint 2013 - Error - Can't Open Or View AD Password Management WebPart Fix Unhandled Error in Silverlight 2 Application Invalid cross-thread access error Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
